England Six Nations Squad 2025

Steward will start but needs a strong defensive system so he doesn't get singled out one v one..ie wingers supporting.

Sorry to be a broken down record but I don't understand why Carpenter isn't in the squad.

There is a limit that I can never remember to how many players Borthwick can change. Not sure if injury changes ever become permanent, say a player misses 2 windows in a row?

I make it 5 non-injury changes. Marler might not count though.
Rodd/Baxter for Marler
Heyes & Opoku-Fordjour for Cole & Davison
Coles or Willis for Isiekwe
Beard or Dingwall for Lozowski.

Is that the limit of changes per cycle?
This says 5 back in 2022, can't find anything about rules on it though.

According to the article, that is England Performance Squad, or are referring to the six Nations squad which doesn't have a limit?

No idea tbh. I don't think the rules around squad changes are written clearly and publicly for anyone to see. I thought it was from each series, including the 6Ns, to the next.

I found this from 2022 wiki page on squads

"There is no limit on the number of players each team may call up to play in the competition, and initial squad sizes ranged from 33 to 42."

And on the 6 nations website under championship rules, squads aren't mentioned.

In fact the only rules re squads seems to be for the RWC.

Ah I see the confusion. This is an RFU rule, not a general rugby rule. England coaches are only allowed a limited number of changes to the EPS. I think it's still 5 between each set of internationals except for injuries. Not sure how retirements count either.

Isiekwe is absent due to injury,

Who is likely next in line to be called up to the 36 if Jamie George is ruled out?

And would anyone be promoted to be VC alongside Genge?

Langdon, surely?

Not a good week for George.

Sounds like a feeble last quarter from Sarries against Castres second string. Hesitate to draw parallels with England, but a bit of a familiar theme there.

So George doubtful, IFW, Underhill and Furbank out.

Chessum (fitness?), Martin, Heyes, JvP and Steward have just had their backsides handed to them on a plate.

Itoje, Dan, Earl and Willis all involved in a chastening defeat too. Also bit of a bad one for Bath.

At least the Sale and Saints players should be reasonably upbeat although Sleightholme didn't play this weekend and is having to manage his hamstring carefully.

Add in last year's results and its hard to imagine the mood in camp being too upbeat.

Not to worry. I'm sure we have an outstanding coach who can bring out the best in the players and get them to gel.

Quins attack looking toothless like englands, sarries fading in the final 15 like England.

Food for thought, something to learn from? Worrying parallel?

Quins not having enough game breakers in their backline and sarries having poor quality depth.

Disgustingly good try from B Curry at the weekend.

Looks like he's the form flanker around. Probably deserves a start, with or instead of his brother?
