Reasonable squad,

No 12s is very frustrating - four outside centres and a utility back who has experience of playing....outside centre

Annoyed but not surprised at Daly instead of an actual 15 call up

Forwards are good, though concerning that both Chessum and Martin are either injured or due back but yet to play - Sleightholme too
Surely the Dombrandt experiment has run it's course?

Nice to see Hill involved and a changing of the guard at TH.

Not convinced about Itoje as skipper, but right to move on from George (still bizarrely named as a VC) and there were realistically few other options.

Not sure how I feel about this squad to be honest.
In the most part, im positive. But one or two omissions and inclusions arent the best...

Dombrandt still?
No 12....surely Atkinson was worth a shout.

Glad to see Beard there...hes a cracking young player in the making.

The bigger issue for me is the coaching team and the tactics....

LH. Genge isn't the best scrummager but the other 2 have a lot to prove at this level. Not a position of strength.

HK: Fine. I'll die laughing if LCD takes the shirt over 2 centrally contracted players though.

TH: Stuart's improved, really hope Heyes takes his chance and that AOF is just there to learn and doesn't get thrown in against the big boys of France or someone.

LK: Martin and Chessum both have injury / rust issues. We'll have to see how heavily the captaincy weighs on Itoje.

Back Row: Lots of options. Just play fit and in form ones. New combination likely.

SH: No real competition to Mitchell. Personally hope JvP can kick on.

FH: As expected, how they're used is another matter.

IC: Not even room for one specialist to come in and learn in a 36 man squad?? Mistake.

OC: Fine

Wing: Lot of potential, but unproven at this level. Were Sleightholme's defensive issues personal or system?

FB: Daly, just no. Steward's been done to death on here but fine as long as the pluses outweigh the minuses.

Agree...why no Atkinson or Carpenter puzzles me.

To be fair there is an element of looking to the future. Dan Cole has finally been got rid of.
Cole should have gone after the RWC. For everyone bit of light you still have Daly and Dombrandt.

Daly would be 35 i think at the next world cup. George 37. Neither are probably going to improve over that period.

It's just utterly boring as expected from the head coach.

Lack of IC is astonishing, not one other tier one nation would do that. Ojomoh has been round the squads long enough, is playing well and isn't a kid anymore. Atkinson playing well week in week out. Even Kelly who is not in the conversation anymore got binned when he was playing well. Even Hartley who is back from injury has never got a look in but is clearly someone who is a 12 and can be worked with. Northmore being playing 12 too. Lining up with Beard.

Slade doesn't even play in the centres anymore, and while I'm not against him in the squad its already peeved me off that he was straight back in for the AIs despite not playing any games, then looked rusty in tight games.

What's next? Fullback. Daly. His time has gone. Lets teach Carpenter the playbook, or Glanville. I don't mind Steward in there (I'm still a huge fan) but Borthwick doesn't have a clue about his 15s identity. I've no doubt he wants Smith to cover there, but he's not a 15. He doesn't play there.

Forwards. Glad to see some new old props in. But eventually picking Willis who will no doubt be binned for Dombrandt who just hasn't show international quality. It's a wasted squad space that could go to a proper 6 in Pearson or an *apprentice player like Pollock. Or even a Pepper.

We're not in transition. We have enough players for us to pick 3 decent teams. But Borthwick just wants to pick a mess. It reminds me of Man Utd just randomly hoping players work together. There is no identity to the team and Borthwick is still acting like he's only been in the job 1 month.

Anyway. Come on England.
