England EPS 2017/18 edition.

Manu is thick as ****, seriously how could the guy **** up AGAIN? Is he incapable of thinking? Same for Solomona, you're not so valuable that you can afford to do this and get away with it. I don't think Tuilagi will ever learn, he has been warned numerous times and still does it.

Much as I agree with Jones' attitude change on field, I hope he sticks to the Lancaster line off field. We don't need our players making idiots of themselves. Tuilagi is already on thin ice and it will be interesting to see what happens, I hope Jones put's it in black and white, any more of that stupidity and he can kiss goodbye to ever playing for England again.

If the AB's had the same rules then they pretty much wouldn't have a backline.

End of the day if Manu is playing his best he will be in the squad.
No offence to JJ or Daly but neither showed the potential to cause havoc in a structured defence like Manu did at his best and Eddie knows this.

I'm sure Eddie will read them the riot act hence the rightly naming and shaming them, but Manu would have to do something alot more stupid than a night out with Denny to cross that line.

Lancaster had an easy call because Manu was already out basically.

I'm not so sure about that. As good as Manu was we don't yet know whether he will be capable of getting back to his best. If he's seen as being disruptive to a group who has been more successful without him than with him, Eddie may decide it's not worth the hassle.

Don't see why we should abandon any standards just because the ABs may not care. If this is a first offense it would be one thing but Manu has repeatedly done this, often soon after rejoining the squad. Anyone with half a brain would be on their best behavior when they get their first chance back but he just repeatedly acts like a tosser every single time. He literally can't seem to control himself. You have to ask if a player doesn't have the discipline to not act like a pillock off the field, does he have the discipline on the field? Remember he still has to earn his spot back, it's not like he's an established player whose done something bad, he's a player who hasn't been with England regularly for the last 4 years...

Tuilagi's previous problems
  • 2010 - Avoided deportation after it was found he had remained in England for six years on an expired visa
  • 2011 - Banned for five weeks for punching Northampton's Chris Ashton
  • 2011 - Warned by police and fined £3,000 by England rugby officials after jumping from a ferry in Auckland a day after England's quarter-final World Cup exit
  • 2013 - Makes 'bunny ears' gesture with two fingers behind then Prime Minister David Cameron's head while posing for a photo with British and Irish Lions players
  • 2015 - Fined £6,205 by magistrates after admitting assaulting two police officers
  • I though in 2010 when he punched Christ Ashton he was deemed to be doing a public service? Same as his 2013 incident...

Also don't think the Cameron can be counted TBH.

If anything that is a + mark.

Also harsh to bring something in he did as a teenager really with the Visa thing. (If anything showed how lax our immigration is considering he played age grade for us).

Hence the IF he is playing back to his best.

1 more thing from me, for all how wonderful Lancaster is about the culture spiel, in my eyes he will always be the guy who called up Calum Clark to England. (So i will be extremely biased here)

Aye I think Lancaster always had the luxury of decision being taken out of his hands for the most part. With injury or bans he very rarely had to make an actuall call on behaviour and it very rarely a detriment to the team at large.

I mean its one thing to ban injury prone player just as he was injured and asaaulted two police officers. It would be an entirely another if this were Maro Itoje one the back of three MoM performances.

That's symbolic from Jones and just plain dumb from the players. You'd have thought the pair of pillocks could've controlled themselves on a 3 day camp.

You've got be a rare kind of plonker to go on the sauce just after your coach has said he wants the players to be 20% fitter.

They will both be fine and play for England again, just look who the captain is for starters.

Manu is an idiot, there is only so many times he can be a twat and get away with it. 3 days and he couldn't resist having a pint, it shows he isn't really bothered about playing for England again so best leave him out now.

This is it exactly, it just stinks of not being that committed to playing for England. EJ wants his whole squad to buy in to a certain mindset, a level of commitment to the cause. He's faced with two players who are new to his "project", who have had no involvement in the success this group has achieved through buying in to his approach. One has never played for a full England team, the other is coming back after years of injuries - they should be among the hungriest in the group. Yet in a three day pre-season training camp they can't even properly commit. It's pathetic

Tuilagi, in particular, is a unique talent and should be on the England radar if he stays fit. But he also has to prove he can fit into the team ethos because he isn't good enough to be above the law

Don't mention the law when tuilagi is about, he might get angry and start assaulting female police officers again

Good post. This pretty much sums up my feelings on these two ...

Once upon a time, Tuilagi might have had reason to believe he was the main man in an England shirt, but that was the distant past in rugby terms.

The England teams he featured in relied on his individual ability. Now under Eddie, we're a much better team and unless you buy in to that ethos, you don't get picked.

Yeah although this comes about a day after Jones named checked him as being able to damage the ABs. If he's back firing he's going to have to drive a bus the wrong way down no d*ckheads boulevard for Eddie not to include him.

The key word there is 'if'. Manu now has to play so well to the point that Eddie has no choice but to pick him. He hasn't done that for years, so it's definitely not a given that he will.

With his injury record, no-one would be surprised if he breaks again 4 games in to the season. He needs proper fitness before form even really comes in to it I'd say.

It also depends how personally Eddie's taken this. Yes, he's a pragmatist, but he's also stubborn as hell.

So Manu is back on the operating table. This happens so often. I presume he would've had full contact sessions, some intense pre season work and game time before this weekend. But as soon as the real stuff comes around he gets injured again. Is it his body weight and weak knees? I thought he looked leaner on Sat.

Anyway, still a couple of months till the AIs and I'm looking forward to it. Some English players still to come back and play, others looking good in week 1. Its an exciting time to be a Rugby fan.

He seems to be going the same way as Corbisiero, I think he may be forced into an early retirement.
