In England
I think you're underestimating how much the old farts in the RFU can ruin rugby worldwide. They're as corrupt as the WRU while being as powerful as Sanzar.
Troubled waters lie ahead.
Care to enlighten?
Why will this be the death of rugby?
Care to enlighten?
Care to make a case to say they're not?
Surely it's easier to prove something has happened, rather than hasn't.
Alternatively, he asked you first.
Hmmmm, I dunno, sounds like a bit of paranoia to me
Fran Cotton is still on the board at Sale (sharks and FC) - why would he want the club game to die?
Oh FFS, here we go...
The Blazers on the RFU board - those old farts like Martyn Thomas and Fran Cotton who've for years been living a life of luxury being paid thousand per year each under Francis Barons tenure - have been rather upset with John Steele. He joined the RFU as CEO and promised to put rugby first, giving it back to the fans. Not fancy pants big sponsors parties. Not corporate hospitality functions. Not any of that other la de dah bullshit.
That ruffled a few feathers to begin with.
Then he removed Rob Andrew from the Elite role.
That ruffled a few more feathers.
He had the audacity to put money into the grass roots level of the game.
What a *******.
Then he gave control of selection to the coaches.
That really ****** off the old farts.
Then to cap it all off, he created a [strike]"Director of elite performance"[/strike] team manager role in which no one man would overrule the head coach in playing and selection terms. Essentially ruling out Clive Woodward.
This was one step too far for the Gin and Tonic brigade.
Now Woodward will be shoehorned in by hook or crook (most due to Fran Cotton). Before too long, Central Contracts will be mandatory, the Clubs will be raped of resources and rugby in this country will go completely down the shitter, forcing the regional franchises. All of which, CW advocated last time he held a position in the RFU and when he recommended the creation of Rob Andrews old job in the first place.
Care to make a case to say they're not?
Meh, I wouldn't worry. There have been corrupt or inept boards at the head of every sporting organisation. Rugby won't die, just look at football and FIFA. It's as popular as ever despite having the most useless governing body in sport over it.
Care to prove you're not an axe wielding maniac? You can't use that form of arguement, it's ridiculous.
Who says I'm not?Care to prove you're not an axe wielding maniac?
The point I'm making is the club game will go to hell as the life is wringed out of it. Once that falls, there's no support for the the pedastools and everything goes to the dogs.
