Like the side, in general - don't like Asher at 1 but whatever, it's inevitable now
Shame we've not taken the opportunity to have a look at a 12, but again: inevitable as soon as the captaincy got doled out
Personally would've started Langdon, but i've warmed to Oghre a lot this year, he's improved immeasurably

Don't understand why Finn Smith hasn't dropped down into the side

Probably not judged appropriate for someone on a central contract to drop down plus I imagine he is on standby tomorrow incase M Smith or Ford wake up unwell or get injured in the warm up.

What happened to Batley? I thought he would start so to not make the 23 is disappointing.

That will be the reason but tbh you could have Furbank in the 23 as emergency 10/15 cover IF Ford drops allowing Finn to get 60 min and then come in for Japan.

Very strange indeed. Heard nothing this end yet, although the worry is he's been injured. I suppose there is a chance he's involved with training in the England squad, similar to Fin Smith?

Finn I'd have liked to see, I really like the starting pack. AoF seen as the future so even though to early they fast track him always happens. Oghre I agree, Langdon over Oghre but Oghre is on Form. Batley>Tizard for me this season. Tuima is a big body to come on and I'm Bias. 21 - 23 not sure on but meh I like Muir.

Hows Tuima been this season...thought this would have been a gimme for him but I guess Exetres poor form is not helping.

Not sure why Atkinson wasnt trialled at 12. Maybe they still see Dingwall as potential and are giving another chance at this level to test him..

Not really sure what they think Dingwall can improve, he kind of is what he is, solid, not a killer athlete, and kind of just solid. These squads to me should be for drilling problem positions, no 12 is killer.

Premier sports ummm nope, not getting another channel I have to pay for.

Selection as always will be silly in some areas as I'm sure SB will be involved but Asher at LH is stupid after he's played tight all season.

Love Dingwall but he's an England starter as a steady player for me and not an England an option.

I think Dingwall is underrated. He's a bit of a 'glue' player who does most things well and makes others around him look better.

Slade is obviously important to the coaches as the defensive leader, but given how suspect our defensive system has looked, I'm not sure his place should be guaranteed. Arguably, Dingwall probably shouldn't be in the A side but maybe this game gives him a better opportunity to press for a start vs. Japan than Lozowski just training.

Beard has really kicked on this season and if he does well in the A game, he might find himself in the mix.

Overall though I just want Marchant to come home.

Being the glue at club level doesn't translate well at international though imo
Slade is a glue player but at his peak he is world class imo

I think that's exceptionally generous when Slade has been no more than OK in the majority of his England games. Dingwall's played twice so I think it's a little early to dismiss him as ineffective at test level.

I like both Langdon and Oghre, but I really worry they dont have the size to scrum at international level.

You see, it isnt that I underrate Dingwall, I agree completely, very good prem player and the epitome of a glue guy, I just dont think that translates up well and I dont see him improving any skill set to be a differnce maker.

Maybe he might bring more balance to the senior team being an actual 12, but personally I think thats more of a system issue.

I think we'd have been better off sticking with Dingwall at 12 for the main England team and letting Lawrence be at 13. Keep him there until another 12 sticks their hand up…although saying that I've thought Atkinson at Gloucester had put his hand up.

If Dingwall was playing for anyone else he wouldn't be getting the hype. His mains praise was he isn't as attack minded as the rest of the saints backs on the whole.

Even in terms of centres at saints I would have Hutchinson and Burger ahead of him really.

Imo Slade is a genuine lynchpin for Exeter, but tbh I agree that Marchant is and was our best 13 option anyway.

Dingwall isn't a 12 and imo Atkinson and Ojomoh have more promise
