Elton Jantjies

At the end of the day the best player should get the starting spot, despite his color.
Just a Habana and JP proved duing the RWC 2007

It never takes long for the "politics" discussion to come up. IMO people should go to the off topic forums to discuss it.

Anyway, whats the problem with Morne? He has a great kicking and passing game, is it his playmaking abilities that are the problem?

Jantjies looks like a great up and coming player, but i'm not sure if he is a world class #10 right now. Can he play 15 well? I'm not sure where the boks would use him.

SA have good depth for #10 as well, i would like to see Lambie get a trial before the world cup.

I'm afraid it is a big deal in South Africa, thanks to your nations's stupid apartheid regime

First of all it's not my nation, second of all, apartheid ended almost 20 years ago and people should let it go. We don't look funny at Jews in Germany anymore, so just let the whole black/white debate for what it is and give it a rest. If people keep on talking about it, it's never going to be pushed to the background.

Jantjies is too unpolished at this stage. There are other young 10's I'm more excited about in any case but certainly, Jantjies could get there in the future. It is a case of this RWC being a bit too soon for these promising youngsters. Lambie has had a few opportunities and shown he might settle but I'd still prefer Steyn in the dying minutes of a semi-final.

I'd still pick Steyn as my 1st choice flyhalf with a combination of Pienaar and James (if he doesn'r spark in Super rugby then sure, give Lambie a go) as back-up. Pienaar would be my 2nd pick for scrummie and could at a pinch play flyhalf as well. Grant doesn't have the boot (distance) for test rugby; clever teams (Reds, Chiefs) have peeged the Stormers in our own 22 this year and test flyhalves will do exactly the same. Running rugby or no you can't play in your own 22. Some old adages just don't change.

Good prospect, bit erratic with regards to form, which is to be expected of course

To me it looksk like he should spend a little more time in the gym, his abdomen looks as soft as a baby's, and he doesn't look he could do the Lambie vs. Burger hand-off from the CC final last year. A little bit of muscle will do his physicality and confidence a world of good.

I still think Johan Goosen is going to be a future star, can't wait for the u20 world cup to see him in action again

I have been hoping 'they' find a way to accelerate local time to get this guy in the thick of things. Between him, Lambie, Ebersohn and Jantjies we should be in a situation where we have a few options at 10 and can pick the form option. Can hardly wait for the next 'cycle' and a coach with vision (even a coach with an idea or two would be an improvement LOL). I just hope these guys stay put and get the gametime to develop.

Steyn was the flyhalf in South Africa´s below par matches in 2010 with him clearly unable to spark attack. He was poor and unable to produce anything other than from kicking for the posts. Besides Pienaar and François Steyn are both great goal kicking options and should both be in the starting lineup.

Goal Kicking should not be the motivation in thinking. In 2007 Argentina dropped their wonder boot (Todeschini) to play Hernández at 10 and the result was a huge success. England did the same with their´s (Wilkinson) and have been enjoying a significant improvement in back play (Flood).

If South Africa want to be bullies then go for Morne Steyn. If they want to be more open then go to anyone else. Interestingly the Bulls´aged forwards are not very successful this season, suggesting the plan of bash from the Bulls dominated pack with Steyn at 10 should indeed be on the out.

Can Jantjies be called black? In the country I live in he would not be called black. He´d be moreno which is brown skinned a clear difference from calling someone dark or white. His name says it all.

Morne Steyn was also the flyhalf that carried us in our best year yet 2009, scoring many tries along the way to boot (excuse the pun) and top try scorer at 10 in 2010 Super rugby. Rather lay the 2010 test fiasco(s) at the feet of the Springbok coaching staff. Their gamepan, their instructions, their failure to get get the most out of talented players/cut the dead wood out of the team.

Can we please stop the whole black/white/coloured debate when it comes to South Africans? They are South African, end of story

Amen!

If I were P Diddy I would ask Percy to make his comeback for the RWC and try to play my senior team that has won it in 2007

LOL, I love it!

Its only a big deal (in sport) at this stage because politicians make it a big deal. I assure you most people are sick of quota's and would prefer if politics stay out of sport. Now in terms of economic/educational opportunities etc, yes, it is a very big deal. That said, quota's and the oppression of other ethnicities is not the way to address this. I hate the Apartheid legacy, bloody English!

About 2009 - the win in Hamilton was down to Frans Steyn not Morne. That game meant the ***le. I wold never pick Morne, not with the alternatives.
