Edinburgh have announced the signing of South African prop WP Nel on a three-year contract from the Free State Cheetahs.

That is one of our props for the 2015 world cup sorted out then.

Wonder what part Robinson played in this...

Taken Tim McVisser 3 years to become Scottish.

Lol, isn't there a difference between Becoming Scottish and Becoming a native of Scotland??

For Example, becoming scottish would entail WP Nel has to grow red hair, wear skirts, and talk in a funny accent.
Becoming a Scotsman would entail, he has a Scotland passport and can wear the Scotland jersey when losing against other rugby teams, sorry, i meant playing against other rugby teams. :p

Scrum cap= Problem solved

talk in a funny accent.

He's Afrikaans, he already has a funny accent.

wear skirts

Rather a skirt than a striped pink tank top.

At least you get a draft when the weather is warm.

Superb signing for Edinburgh. If there's one thing Michael Bradley does well it's recruiting high quality players. All Edinburgh need is somebody else to coach those players and they'll be sorted!

I feel that based on his earlier performances this season (where he contributed twice what Kellock and Gray did at the time) that Tom Ryder is capable of filling Richie's Glasgow boots.

However you are right it would be great if he could come along and share his experience with the younger locks and loosies, so long as he doesn't demand a big pay packet though.

But to be honest, Edinburgh need locks, not just because of shortage, but for variety. Cox is the enforcer and Gilchrist is still VERY raw. Although those individuals haven't done bad for themselves this season, Edinburgh need depth here as they have been lucky niether has had a bad injury. Sooner or later they are gonna become fatigued as well. However that Georgian that is supposed to be joining... Basaila or something, can he play lock?

Okay, so how long does it take for him to become eligible to play for the Scots??

IRB eligibility rules state that a player may play for the senior fifteen-a-side National Representative Team of the Union of the country in which he has completed thirty six consecutive months of Residence immediately preceding the time of playing.

Yeah I got it from LordHope's previous comment of Tim Mcvisser. 3 years = 36 months!

Got it!

Damn, better go through the paperwork, I get a feeling I could get a shot at the Scottish 12 shirt!

You wouldn't happen to have any junior caps for Wales by any chance?

If you start now, you might have a chance of finding a Scots auntie before the iRB make a ruling on Shingler.

Hmm, I suppose we are talking about the IRB here, so you've got time to play with unfortunately.

I have a feeling my Dad's Mum is Scottish....better let Andy Robinson know.

My mum's cousin actually has two caps for Scotland. I can't be a million miles away from a call up if Max Evans is out with that kind of rich highland heritage, surely?

I have a Scottish last name, would that help?:D

I'm from Ireland which is similar to Scotland apparently and I went there once. I'm probably over qualified.
