Don't shoot the messenger! ... SBW not cited for high tackle on Kankowski

A good old "Sonny Bill" (as we refer to a no armed tackle in NZ) is great for the fans and really get the blood pumping. Just my point of view no dobut somebody will disagree but thats fine

But SBW is guilty and should have been cited and treated the same way Bakkies is!

No, you still are not understanding the citing process and what it means. They are not treated the same because the offences they committed aren't the same.

For SBW to have been cited, his offence MUST be one which the Citing Commissioner thought was deserving of a Red Card offence. There is no way that was a Red Card offence. It it were, then matches would become a 13 a side farce every weekend, and the judiciary would have to be running 24/7 hearings to keep up with the backlog. .

The other thing I keep hearing is that Bakkies was cited for "clearing out". This is utter rubbish, and nothing more than an attempt by his supporters to minimise his offence. Its what he did AFTER he cleared out that is the issue. Grabbing Duvenhage around the neck and slamming him down the way he did was very, very dangerous. It might be marginal as to whether it was a Red Card offence, but it was certainly much more serious than SBW's offence.

I wonder what the outcome of the judicial hearings would have been if Duvenhage was sitting in a wheelchair right now with a broken neck.
