[Currie Cup 2011] Who will be the talents having a go this World Cup Year?

Every year we have young talent coming through the ranks in the Currie Cup. This year, with the RWC being played, we might see some more than usual talent making a name for themselves.

Who will it be? Will it be Kurt Coleman? Or maybe Anton Bresler? What about the Bulls? Stephan Dippenaar maybe.


My picks for this years Currie Cup are these blokes.



Johan Goosen (Free State Cheetahs)
Jaco Taute (Golden Lions)
JJ Engelbrecht (Blue Bulls)
Marcell Coetzee (Natal Sharks)
Danie Poolman (Western Province)

Hmmmmmm....

Aren't Sadie and Engelbrecht only leaving WP at the end of the season?
Hoping Goosen will get plenty of game time, however we may see him play as inside centre, given Sias' Superugby season, thats where the Cheetahs backline is weakest imo, along with scrummy. However, he is still fresh out of school, and we'll just have to wait and see how much game time he gets.

So many options to choose from though...

Sharks- Kyle Cooper/ Paul Jordaan

Agreed regarding Sadie & Engelbrecht...final season at WP, will move to Bulls beginning of 2012.


Lots of prommising stars and potential...let's see.


WP: Gary van Aswegen, Sadie, Tim Whitehead, Nic Groom. (Eben Etsebeth, Nizaam Carr & Sya Kolisi...but think it;s maybe a season or two too early?)

Sharks: Sbru Sithole, Paul Jordaan and Piet Lindeque

Lions: Jaco Taute

Bulls: Juandre Kruger and Arno Botha

Cheetahs: Sias and Robert Ebershon, Johan Goosen.

Some of these guys are real talents...but should be selected with care and not thrown in the deep end!
