Crusaders have given ex-Leeds and Hull utility back Jordan Tansey a chance to resurrect his Super League career.
The 24-year-old, who was sacked by Hull on the eve of the season after a third breach of discipline in 12 months, has signed an 18-month deal.
Tansey had been on a weekly contract with Championship club Dewsbury.
"We had no reservations about signing a player of Jordan Tansey's calibre," said Crusaders chief executive Rod Findlay.
"Iestyn Harris and myself have spoken with Jordan at great length and he has a desire and a willingness to succeed.
"He has a winning mentality and we have both been impressed with his attitude."
Tansey, who has scored 32 tries in 81 Super League appearances, was a member of the Leeds squad that won back-to-back Grand Finals in 2007 and 2008.
He also had a spell in Australia with Sydney Roosters in 2009 before moving to the KC Stadium.
"I'm thrilled to sign a player of Jordan's undoubted quality," said Crusaders coach Harris.
"He has played at the highest level in both Super League and the NRL and I believe we have signed a top quality player.
"Jordan is a very versatile player. He can play pretty much anywhere across the backline, as well as hooker, and he adds real class to this squad.
"He's a very skilful player that will give our attacking game that extra bit of potency. He wants to get back to playing at the highest level and showing everyone what a great player he is."
Tansey, who will link up with the Wrexham-based club on Monday, will be in contention to make his debut at Castleford next Sunday.
