Crusaders 44 v Bradford 20 (Sun) FT

I think the Crusaders's "success" has definitely had a positive affect on rugby league in south wales. Before they got super league status there was not 1 rugby league team (from my knowledge) in my area. Now the three surrounding villages and my town has started Rugby League sides, which (to my knowledge) play during the summer. The popularity is massively growing in Carmarthenshire anyways. A lot of guys i now are actually converting from union to league too. Its definitely growing, but should definitely play to the rules, especially seeing as their results of late has had some good publicity too :D :D :D Fingers crossed for a renewal :D

Its now quite big in the Valleys ... once a stronghold of Welsh rugby!

You go to places like Merthyr and there are a few sides now playing.

And the fact the sport's stronghold in Wales is in the valleys means the team should be down there!

North Wales needs a team. The fact that players are being blooded in South Wales and moving to play in the North is a positive. The Crusaders could not afford to pay the rent that Bridgend was asking for to play on the ground, and the Gnoll is out of action in these summer months because of cricket.

Ideally they should look at playing in Newport / Cardiff but these have been looked at but people are charging to much to rent the stadium. The racecourse offered a decent rent pay. The gates have been pretty good to be fair. Just remember Dan the Crusaders was a team for Wales not just a particular region.

Yet Dan you have a valid point. Why was it moved? Would they have been successful had they not moved? Would the same players come? Its all questions that could be asked. But to be fair Dan's statements are very fair. But personally I think the move has been a positive one.

Totally agree with Cymro, its just Wales as a whole that needs a "higher tier" side. The crusaders (at the mo) are flying the flag for the whole of wales (in league) regardless of where they consider their "Home" ground. I'm sure if the popularity continues to grow in Wales as a whole, then more money can be issued to provide more than one side to represent the country at the highest level..... hence leading to a possible North + South representation.
All good :D

My argument though is that north Wales don't need a team - if people want to go and see a team from Wrexham, for example, they can take the short drive to St Helens, Wigan, Warrington, Salford, Widnes...
