Coaching director Scott Johnson will leave the Ospreys at the end of the season and BBC Sport Wales understands he will take up a senior Scottish rugby role.

Scary, ain't it?

Wonder what role he will fulfill exactly, was hoping that Townsend would be given a polite termination of contract for scoring so few tries in the last few years notice, and a new attack coach brought in. Don't see this as that route, but he may yet help.

I bet they will be singing and dancing in Swansea with the news of this.

Couldn't agree more!!! Bring back the tan and colored boots :D :D :D haahaha

In all seriousness though, with the talent that's been present in the squad over the years, there should have been way more success. Surely with the player base the ospreys coaches have had at their disposal, the only job they need to do is direct the starting line-up to the pitch??

There has been some success, but I think underachievers is the key word - not all coaching teams fault, but there must be some blame given to the "top".

I for one would love Paul Turner to be given a chance, really ruffle some feathers ;)

Just realised that paul turner has a job =P

Graham henry still chilling after world cup?? Didnt he say he'd like to come to europe?? Ospreys have a certain nz theme over the years - maybe hore could do some convincing???

I don't think Scott Johnson is the problem it's dumb and dumber Sean Holley and Jonathan Humphries, until we get rid of these two nothing will change.

Nah ... Johnson is the issue really.

Agree about Holley and Humphries; but Scott Johnson is indeed a problem.
O'Sullivan would be a disaster. A coach from outside of Wales is needed, unless someone in the region (anyone?) can step up.

to be fair to Johnson, he hasn't exactly been less successful than any other Ospreys coaches,

in fact towards the end of the 2009/10 season was probably the best the Ospreys have ever played, unfortunately couldn't manage the Heineken Cup quarter final win though but far better than all of the previous efforts

I think if Johnson is going then Holley should follow as well

I look back at the HC match in Biarritz as the turning point (granted they did win the Magners after, but still). I can't help but wonder how things would have been different if they had indeed have won.
There is no point in getting rid of Johnson unless the whole coaching staff leave. They need a new setup with a different perspective. (Lyn Jones returning to Ospreys rumours will be on their way!)

Hopefully this means we'll be seeing more of Matthew Morgan!

not sure what the future holds now, but this is certain, unless and until H&H are found new employment a lot of season ticket holders will not renew next year.
Many, myself included thought long and hard this time around but now we are likely to be offered more of the same, many will say "no thanks".

Good. Johnson is a fool. He does nothing but complain about anything and everything. He might not be the only problem at the Ospreys, but his whinging just makes them look bad. Holley and Humphreys are lucky to still be involved after so many years of not very much. They need to bring in a propper coach who is free to appoint his own backroom staff, none of this 'elite performance director' crap.

The current coaches seem unable to differentiate between second rows and back-rows, they belive JT is a better 8 than Ryan Jones, and currently have an obsession with starting Barry Davies ahead of any other fullback on their books, despite giving Fussell the majority of gametime there this season. Biggar has been given a free ride for over two seasons, and despite having some good games, he generally bottles it when it counts (their last HC game for exaple).

the coaches also seem to have an obsession with Tom Smith, and have made him captain for some matches despite him being a really poor player who rarely does anything good on the pitch

Thomas at lock needs to stop, in fact he can to France to free space on the salary cap to keep Adam Jones

I wish they signed a proper full back to replace Byrne as well instead of Stowers

They started playing JT at 8 after the summer tour to NZ last year where he played quite well. Ryan Jones is more suited to 6 nowadays, hes too slow for 8. As for fullback Fussell started and had a shocker in the first Sarries match and was then ruled out by injury for the return fixture. I think he was still recovering so wasn't selected against the Scarlets and to be honest Barry Davies hasn't done anything bad enough to warrant being dropped.

"ahead of any other fullback on their books" umm... What other fullbacks? Gareth Owen is injured and i guess the only other guy they could play there is Tom Prydie who has been away with 7's and has yet to play senior rugby at fullback yet.
Do you actually follow Ospreys rugby or are you just another armchair critic?

Prydie has played for Swansea in the Welsh Premiership this season before going off with Wales 7s.

Ross Jones in Bridgend is a youngster that Davies is keeping out.

armchair critic? so who are you? Lawrence Dallaglio?

even if you were anyway it doesn't mean that Dullonien has no merit to his opinion

Some fair comments regarding Barry Davies. He was probably the best option at the time, but as Psuchic Duck said, that just goes to show their short sightedness of not signing a fullback from somewhere after Byrne announced he was leaving. Not a fan of Barry Davies really. There must be a youngster with more potential, afterall a big left boot can't be all that the Ospreys want in a fullback?

Armchair critic a little harsh, but I'll let it fly.

A rumour on a Scottish site says that apparently one of Johnson's jobs will be to keep tabs on and investigate Scottish qualified but forgien born players plying their trade in other countries.

Is such a strange rumour may actually had some truth in it.
