Unsettled English rugby star Danny Cipriani is looking to quit Melbourne Rebels after a troubled start to his career with the Super Rugby outfit, The Guardian reported Thursday.
A report on the paper's website said Cipriani's representatives had contacted Premiership side Bath about the possibility of the 23-year-old fly-half returning to English rugby.
It follows an unhappy stint in Australia which has seen the player repeatedly dropped for breaches of discipline.
"We have been contacted by Danny Cipriani's representatives but he is not top of our list," Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld was quoted as saying.
"Danny is a very talented player but we don't know what has happened in Australia yet and we didn't want to go off-strategy and sign somebody at the last minute. But he is someone we have looked at before and somebody we could look at again."
Regarded as one of English rugby's most talented young players, Cipriani's career has been dogged by off-field problems as well as tensions with teammates and coaches.

He really needs to wise up and stop acting like a child. Off to Bath perhaps to replace Butch James, or maybe to Sale seeing as they need a fly-half.

I don't feel sorry for him. All the problems he's had off the field he caused himself...plus he ****ed up his chance with Kelly Brook. Class A Idiot.

When the going gets tough...

Cipriani is such a nob head. He is good enough in my opinion to start for the rebels (despite is shocking defense), but he wastes it all by acting like a prat outside of the game. He's a professional athlete, earning more money than 99% of 23 year olds, and yet he wants to waste it all by breaking the reasonable policies that his employer has set out, and then has a whinge when things don't go his way. In my opinion he's actually worse than Henson, because at least Henson had a good season of rugby to inflate his ego, Cipriani's entire profile is based off one good game against Ireland...

Its bad news for the Rebels, although they have capable replacements I think Danny set a good standard for the other 1st 5s in the Rebels squad. He works hard on the field and gives it a 100%, he plays for the Rebels like he was born in Melbourne and thats what you want from your players. His off field dramas are his and his to sort out but its his rugby thats important for him now, he should've had 1 more season of Super rugby and that would've improved his profession IMO, especially for the Rebels who have had a succesful debut year IMO and look promising for next year.

I'd say one reasonable game against a bad Ireland - Jamie Noon was the MOTM for crying out loud!

He sums up everything that was wrong with the Wasps media machine while they were in their pomp. Dayglo being the root cause for most of it.

Melbourne Rebels said troubled English international Danny Cipriani was staying at the club despite reports of him seeking a return to Britain.

The former England fly-half, who was dropped from the Rebels' two-match Super Rugby tour of South Africa after repeated off-field disciplinary breaches, reportedly sought a deal with Bath but was turned down.

Cipriani, 23, is in the first season of a two-year deal with Melbourne which Rebels chief executive Ross Oakley said he expected him to honour.

"He hasn't asked to get out of his contract," Oakley said.

"I've spoken to his manager who told me there's no truth in the fact that he's wanting to go to Bath."

The English club, looking for a replacement for South African Butch James, reportedly said Cipriani wasn't "top of their list".

"Danny is a very talented player but we don't know what happened in Australia yet," Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld said.

"We didn't want to go off strategy and sign somebody at the last minute."

Given Bath's reported reluctance, Cipriani's only option could be to try to heal the rift with the Rebels and see out the remainder of his playing contract.

"He's training here and has been working very hard while the boys have been away in South Africa, so we'll see how it progresses as time rolls by," Oakley said.

"He's keeping his head down and working hard.

"He's doing all the things he's been asked to do as well as his training, so it will be how the team and team management see that once they get back."

Oakley said it would be up to coach Rod Macqueen and senior players whether Cipriani would be available for selection for the Rebels' next match on home soil against the Stormers on June 3.

Before the Rebels left for South Africa, the club issued a statement, saying the squad and management "had lost confidence" in Cipriani.

Rebels want him to stay. Well I expect they want him to stay until they find a new fly-half. Cipriani really annoys me. He has so much talent but just can't do the squad thing. He went to Australia to try and get back in the England set-up and get more game time - I'd rather if he just went to football now.

And he blew his chance of a lifetime with Kelly Brook. Twat.

He drinks too much. If he could just stop thinking that the sun shone out of his arse and take it seriously he would be a fairly decent player.

The world owes him nothing, if anything he owes Jesus for the talent he was given.

Well, its a known fact

1) NH rugby is a lot slower and played on heavier outfields
2) We start early in Aus, which means he is playing in a much hotter climate
3) He is not only missing tackles, he is often just missing.

Personally, I think he is just missing all the attention from the tabloid rags. You guys produce drama queens, you dont really produce rugby players.

Like this guy hating on one of the best locks of the last 10 years...

I still fail to see what that has to do with what's happening to him off field.

Dannys problem is the pace of the game in attack its his defense that is weak which is all down to his commitment to the sport, it's all well and good running 50 yards to score a try (sharks match) but he makes Quade cooper look like brian lima at times.

But he has shown signs of improvement in the SH espically in his Game Kicking skills. I thinks he needs to stay with the rebels, and learn life isn't fair.

The rebels took a vote of no confidence about him, big shock he should consider himself lucky that he didn't get smacked like he did against lewsley (over cips crap tackling)

My mistake.Crossed wires.

You are saying he is a decent player, playing adequately, he is just a drama queen.

Im saying that he is a crap, over rated player and a drama queen. He can go home now. The Rebels would have seen more use out of a box of tampons.

I disagree - rebels look much better with him at 10 than any of the other FH/players who fill in at FH, on their books
What the they make up for in better midfield defence they lose in losing a lot of go forward/ attack

Is that with the stolen bottle of vodka tucked under his shoulder pads or without?
