The Chiefs have signed utility back Tom Marshall for two years.

Defending Investec Super Rugby Champions, the Chiefs have confirmed they have signed utility back Tom Marshall for two years.
Chiefs' coach Dave Rennie said "I had the pleasure of working with Tom in 2010. He is a quality man and a quality player and we are rapt to welcome him to the Chiefs family."
Twenty-three year old Marshall said "I was coached by Dave in the NZU20 side so I was keen to reunite with him. I am keen to push for more starting opportunities in my preferred position so the change was appealing, but I have really enjoyed my time at the Crusaders."
The 1.83m, 96kg utility back will move to Hamilton at the conclusion of his ITM Cup campaign with Tasman.
Marshall has played 40matches for the Crusaders, 26 for the Tasman ITM Cup side and was part of the winning 2010 Junior World Champion New Zealand U20 side.

Go Rennie, what a team will we have next season.

kinda strange reading an article on stuff saying that he is moving to the chiefs because Renee is offering him regular starts at 15?

How does that work? I mean Robbie Robinson has been brilliant at 15 for the chiefs. I do like Tom Marshall but I see him playing a very similar role at the chiefs to what he does at the Crusaders, cover for fullback but more likely to get game time on the wing.

And again the delocalisation of super rugby teams continues. Soon the representation of players from actual chiefs unions wont be any more than some other areas, already see chiefs sides with 1-2 waikato players and 1-2 bop players, next year with Leonard, Toby smith and Kahui gone it will simply not be a chiefs region side at all.

Where is Leonard going to? I read an article a while ago that his options where still open but didn't hear anything from it anymore.

i haven't heard where he is going either, only that he is going.

That last chiefs home game doubled as a fairwell for Craig Clarke, Masaga, Leonard and Kahui I think they did a presentation after the game.

Shame, I think that will mean that the only member of the totally epic 2006 Waikato team still in the chiefs will be Liam Messam.
