Is there going to be one? I wouldn't mind if Heineken sponsored it just for continuity of the name. Heineken Champion's Cup?

Well there will not be a new ***le sponsor. They've actually stated that there will be a group of main sponsors, claiming it will bring in more revenue and give it more of an identity.

Also Heineken Champions cup sounds pretty naff to be honest.

how about "Guinness Champions Cup" with free Guiness for every participating club official great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently they're having a lot of trouble getting one in place.

Ahh that makes sense. So there wil be like "official alcohol sponsor" "official airline sponsor" stuff like that?

And well yeah it would be better without one in the name, I was just thinking go with the flow of the old one. You europeans sure love your sponsors on stuff though so i just assumed :p

They will have multiple sponsors instead of one main sponsor. It makes more sense to do it that way. For example, under French law advertising alcohol on TV is banned, so the commentators and everybody else referred to the old competition as H Cup or the European Cup, so Heineken was paying a lot of money for nothing, regarding the French market.

How do you know? I haven't really seen much in the media about this. Perhaps they are waiting to launch everything with a bang and will announce all the sponsorships they will have closer to the first games.

The Heineken Cup was never called that in France it was called the H Cup as all advertising of Alcohol and Cigarettes is banned in France not just on TV, Heineken were making money out of the French market as everybody knew exactually what H Cup stood for, and they had exclusivity as far as beer sales went in and around the stadiums

Because being involved in Munster and knowing people involved with other clubs it's obvious not many sponsors want to be a 1 in 4. Let's remember Heineken last time were the ***le sponsor. Now they want 3 to share that.

So far they've seemingly convinced Heineken to sign back up at 4/10ths what they were paying.

With the loss of Amlin's £5m/yr; the EPCR is at 26.6% of last years sponsorship.

I suppose it is unsurprising that sponsors don't quite trust the poison at the top.

That's a bit of a stretch - let's see who they end up getting, and for how much, before we judge.

Well, if its 5 partners they are looking for, it'll not go over 5*£4m now.

I would be utterly astonished if anyone agrees to pay more than the "going rate"... Indeed, I think at this stage, they'll be doing well to replicate the £15 million ERC got of Heineken and Amlin last year.

But no worries... since the geniuses in charge decided to sub-contract that all out to XIX (no mention of fees in this at all - I'm sure they'll not be cheap) then they will have someone to blame...

There are lots of rumours swirling around. Apparently the TV deal being put in place in France is around 1/10th the size of the previous deal. If these rumours prove to be the case, the PRL/LNR powerplay for control of European rugby has backfired badly. Not only are they down in revenue for themselves but they've also guaranteed a larger sum of money to the Celtic nations and Italy.

Is it possible European Rugby as a brand has undone a lot of the work ERC/Heineken done to build it up and it may now take a few years before they get money back in. Have heard that about French TV and even now it's said Sky payed a lot less and have been very much more concentrated on getting Pro 12 to be the brand. And the Pro12 teams have benefitted a lot more than LNR/PRL teams.
Also it's been said BT will lower offer for Premiership at next renewal and they're the 1s that may hurt most as Sky are still sour over change to BT and are more interested in promoting Pro12 than getting PRL back

You must be mental if you think Sky care more about the PRO12 than the Premiership.

No home counties - no care.

Well I just think they're putting it all together nicely that it's simply them looking at it as PRL dumped us and how's our payback time
