Champions Cup 25/26 - Round 3

Might just be my English bias but anything remotely controversial from BOR doesn’t seem to get reviewed yet NH is pretty scrutinised one of those clear outs looked pretty bad in real time but it was never replayed.

In fairness Dickson was good. We can have no complaints. Should have won that but an LBP was minimum target and all home wins next week and we potentially can get 2nd but destiny in our hands
He wasn’t good though, was he. Made a pants on head decision that quite literally changed the result of the game. That’s a pretty valid complaint for me. Even Andy Goode was baffled by it. Also made some bizarre decisions throughout some of which admittedly benefited us. The worst thing a ref can be for me is inconsistent.

Beirne for me I think needs to do a better job in getting in refs ear, other captains do it and whether it’s right or sporting I think it gets results. On a personal level I think he will be disappointed with his performance.

An LBP isn’t a bad result on paper but a win here could have been the shot in the arm our season needs.

The positives are a few of our players, especially Edogbo stood up. Crowley was good ball in hand but his tactical kicking was not where we need. O’Connor had some tough moments but is a nice player. Nankivell, idiot YC aside was excellent.

Cards for just being worse at scrummaging is so BS,
No other aspect of the game (or any sport that I can think) can you be sent off for being weaker or not as skilled
I think the cards and penalties should only be for preventing scrum completion. If the ball is available then it should be played imo, kinda the same as at rucks.

The scrum is supposed to be to restart the game, not get penalties. Therefore penalise teams that prevent the game restarting.
