Champions Cup 25/26 - Round 1

Regretting swapping over to the Bristol/Scarlets game at half time, this has been utter sludge
First half wasn't like that. Turned into a proper physical grind... Eeesh. Hardly inspiring, wouldn't be surprised if people thought Bristol lost given the look of disappointment at the final whistle. Win was important but feels like a point dropped.

Commentary still banging on about Scarlets.

Jimmy Williams not looking as sharp since returning. Would like to see BJVR at 12 and Ravouvou 13 for Pau. Worsley was very good again. Santi looked tired, would give 6 to Ben Grondona next week and start with replacement front row from tonight then bring on Genge, Oghre and hopefully a fitter Lahiff.

Scarlets penalty from offside charge down then tackling Worsley in the air. 😄

(Edit to add even commentary said ref is on their side)
Ref was appalling throughout. Utterly useless. He got the scrums all wrong first half. I thought the first Bristol try was crossing. Pretty sure Gareth Davies didn't actually ground the ball for his try. Although Costellow clearly passed the ball forwards in lead up to Scarlets second try, I was under the impression they could only go back 2 phases to check, and it had been 6/7 by that point. Have the laws changed there?

Edit. Scarlets will be kicking themselves for loosing the game. Attacking lineout malfunctions killed them!

Reading the Munster board, they're completely unaware that a penalty that prevents a try is a penalty try, and that if you can identify the offender it's an automatic yellow.
They seem to think Taigh was penalised for stopping the ball reaching the try line, along with the rest of the Munster pack, and should have been a penalty at worst.
The ball got over the try line, and his illegal binding on the ball carrier stopped the grounding.

Just seen highlights of Scarlets v Brizzle.
Whoever thinks that joining the Prem will be Welsh rugby's saviour is gaving a laugh.
Not because of the match, but the lack of crowd.
An English Welsh match and nobody watching!!!!

And the crowd would be worse when it becomes the norm for the opposition to be English.

Too many taffy's heads are up their hole when it comes to the idea of regions playing in English league.

Not sure the logic translate though
Terrible season and prob no desire in Europe won't help more than anything.

I feel English teams would get more interest from the welsh just because of the connection. I think there is more rivalry between the welsh teams and English than people might think.

Sorry know it’s Challenge cup but Perpignan are 17 zip up at HT against the dragons and they got a man red carded in the 12th min or something. I checked the French table and they’re bottom on 1 point. FFS.

Feels silly to say considering they've scored 4 tries but Saints accuracy has been terrible all game,
First phase play from a lineout in Pau's 22 and almost turns into a Pau try because of poor passing

Tighten up by 10% and they're winning this game at a canter, but as it stands it looks like they might lose
