Centre pair

Past- Umaga and Tuigamala,

today surely Farrell has to be there- joking!

Anyway, got to be Giteau and Steyn, or Mortlock, or Henson. Sod it, too hard to decide.

I'm surprised McAlister's been mentioned so often. I mean even when on form i wouldn't rate him as highly as the likes of Giteau, D'Arcy or Henson.

Jauzion and O'Driscoll would be tasty, then Clerc on the wing, and Murphy at full back, ROG at 10, Howlett on the other wing,,,,

Tuigamala was a winger.

Tuigamala was a winger... [/b][/quote]
...who predominently played centre for Wigan when he was at his best.

He played wing for the All Blacks, and I'm not sure about when he played for Samoa in both League and Union, but he did infact play centre for Wigan.

Giteau is better than him. But McAlister a class above D'Arcy and Henson. D'Arcy is a reasonable challenger, but Henson? Better than McAlister? No way.

That's just your personal bias coming into it, here's mine.....

I'de argue that Henson is the best 12 in the Northern Hemesphere at present, and he's still not firing on all cylinders! He's still regaining his creative running flair that we all know he posseses. He's already shown he's one of the best distributors in the game, he just makes time and space for others around him.

It looks to me that he's building himself back up from the ground up. He's concentrated on cutting out any mistakes, being solid in defence (prabably the best defensive 12) and straightening the line to give his forewewards a target, which he does very well with a high level of strength.

His huge boot has been creeping back into his game (again the best boot in rugby) and his creativity is also re-emerging. The only thing Henson hasn't got in his armoury is blistering pace, he aint slow, but he's no winger. When he's firing, he glides past people in a very similar way to Hook.

I'm sure we'll see more from him in the tour to SA. Maybe then we'll be in a better position to decide, one way or another.

I think Steyn has a bigger boot than Henson

I think your right steve. In fact, I know your right. And I'd also say Steyn is better than Henson.

Big call saying Henson has the biggest boot in world rugby. No doubt it's huge, but Evans and Steyn can launch some monsters also. Steyn can drop kick, punt and place kick all 55m plus. I'd say he has the biggest based on the fact I am yet to see anyone else do what he does. Evans would give Henson a run for his money in the punting department.

He was a winger for AB`s and Newcastle in union and that is what this thread refers to.

I'm still saying Matt Gitteu and Frans Steyn would be superb...

You rate Steyn at 13?

I think there are two positions that Steyn has the most potential in.
1st: 15
2nd: 13

The space he gets in 13 and 15 suits his play. I'm saying 15 ahead of 13 only because his kicking will benefit the team there. Eventhough he played superbly at 12 during the WC he likes running with the ball a bit too much for a permanent 12. Although his boot would be very handy there.

I believe 15 is a good mixture of kicking and running for Steyn. But he'd still be a cracker of a 13.
