Where are Brett and McAlister going?
McAlastair to Toulouse is what I heard.
I imagine every Jafa couldn't care less where Brett goes to so long as it's not in the Blues setup.

Toeava maybe?
Can't see Toeava moving to 1st 5/8th, especially if McAlister and Payne are going over seas.
Payne is also leaving? It will be now or wait some seasons before the Blues make a chance of claiming the S15 cup.
Anyone else remember when Stephen Brett was going to be amazing?
They mistook him for Luke McAlister.Anyone else remember when Stephen Brett was going to be amazing?
no, was it before of after dan biggar was the next big thing?
Announced ages ago he's off to Ulster.
Good call, he'll be one to watch. I guess the thing he seems to offer more than he others is consistancy, but he doesn't look quite as flashy as Lima, Anscombe. Barrett and Cruden (not saying he is worse, as he seems to run a game a little better) which I could see him being limited in game time for it, especially in the Crusaders.
It's probably really hard to tell how good Sopoaga/Barrett/Bleyendaal are going to be until they play a couple of seasons of Super Rugby. However, Bleyendaal has been the most impressive of the NZ first-five at the recent under 20 tournaments in my opinion. What really impresses is his ability to play what is in front of him - when there was a gap he ran through it, when he needed to kick the ball he kicked, when there was space out wide he passed it. It sounds very simple, but very few first-fives possess these basic skills. Instead they try to create something out of nothing every time they get the ball, a tactic that works well at lower levels, but is not so effective at higher levels. In many ways Bleyendaal reminds me of Dan Carter, right down to the accurate left boot. Bleyendaal has spent the Super Rugby season learning off Dan Carter, and I expect him to make quite an impact in the ITM Cup.
As Ranger pointed out, there will be plenty more young first-fives that come through the ranks in the next few years. One to keep an eye on is Southland's Scott Eade, who looks very talented....
