Back in the 90's, the club I played for in Bristol would have a game on Boxing Day. This was two scratch teams generally divided by overs and under a certain age depending on numbers.
Talking to one of the old boys recently and this now isn't a thing, and my local team in Lincolnshire has never done it.
I was wondering if this was a popular thing that has stopped over the years, or just something that was only done by a few clubs?

Not sure. I used to go to the Tigers v Barbarians game every boxing day(ish) game was a total sell out but it's obviously fallen off with the advent of professional rugby.
