I remember a while ago watching Matt Williams on the breakdown talking about it and I don't agree on it based on the fact that you could win a championship but not a grand slam.

It could make the tournament a whole lot more exciting though as the table would look like this.

I definitely wouldn't like it but I've heard a few people wanting it.
Also for this week in the 6n it means four teams could go in with a possibility of winning and if Wales did get the slam they're assured the ***le.

Please stop with your love with Matt Williams. James O'Connor and Paul Marshall are enough crushes to last you a life time.

Also you should say you're quoting me in your sig.

Matt Williams is a worthy man-crush.

I agree with both sides of this argument...however...

It would spoil the competition do not break what isnt broke as TrueSlawter says.

I think bonus points should be introduced. They are used in most other tournaments around the world, why should the Six Nations be behind the times? It might make for more attacking rugby because teams will have reason to score tries - rather than just play a kicking game all the time.

Maybe, but any possibility of a team winning the grand-slam but not securing the championship (as is theoretically possible if bonus points were introduced) is just ridiculous. Example:

Grand slam winners - 5 wins, all without bonus points = 5x4 = 20 points.
Championship winners - 4 wins all with bonus points, and a loss with a losing bonus point = 4x5+1 = 21 points.

That would be stupid.

Or if a side lost all 5 games but by less than 7 so they got 5 points, the side above won 1 with 0 bonus points they'd be "worse" than the side who lost all of them.

That is precisely why there aren't bonus points, they just don't work over such a small number of games.
