A shoulder injury has forced Munster centre Jean de Villiers to withdraw from the Springbok team to face Wales in Cardiff on June 5.

De Villiers' place in the starting XV will be taken by Stormers centre Jaque Fourie, despite Bok coach Peter de Villiers initially wanting to give the latter a rest after the Super 14 final.

Fourie has played every match of the season and remains the first choice outside centre in South Africa.

De Villiers had been one of six overseas-based Springbok names in the starting XV for the clash at the Millennium Stadium. However a shoulder injury means that Stormers ace Fourie will slot into the midfield alongside Bath's Butch James.

The decision to bring the Stormers strong man straight into the starting XV means that Super 14 team-mate Juan de Jongh will have to make his Test debut off the bench.

South Africa (revised): 15 Francois Steyn, 14 Gio Aplon, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Butch James, 11 Odwa Ndungane, 10 Ruan Pienaar, 9 Ricky Januarie, 8 Joe van Niekerk, 7 Dewald Potgieter, 6 Francois Louw, 5 Andries Bekker, 4 Danie Rossouw, 3 BJ Botha, 2 John Smit (captain), 1 CJ van der Linde.
Replacements: 16 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 17 Jannie du Plessis, 18 Alistair Hargreaves, 19 Ryan Kankowski, 20 Meyer Bosman, 21 Juan de Jongh, 22 Bjorn Basson.
