Argentina v Wales looms.....

I think we'll take it. My worries are more about picking up injuries. We cannot afford them.
They haven't announced our team yet.

I like the backs but I'm a bit disappointed that Tomos Williams isn't on the bench, I'm not a fan of Aled Davies. Issue for this game is going to be tight 5 (as usual with Wales) as it's a bit lightweight. Front row are all ones for the future however they aren't exactly getting much weight from the row. Beard is still untested really and I'm still not convinced Hill is anything more than an average player, the lighter tight 5 aren't helped with James Davies at 7 (although he deserves his chance) and Seb Davies being played out of position again! This pack is going to struggle to get momentum on Saturday, it's really lacking tight ball carriers.

I quite like the Welsh side. Big test for Dillon Lewis on the tighthead, but we need to start to see if he's up to it at this level ready for the WC. He did ok v SA last week, with Wales only really struggling after Rhodri Jones entered the fray.

I'm also not convinced by the second row pairing. I'm warming to hill, even if I'd like to see more of an athlete/hardnosed second row coming through, rather than the grafter he is. Beard has all the potential, but seems a little timid for his size. I'd prefer to see Seb Davies at lock, but if he can show that he can also slot in at 6 then he'd be a great option on the bench.

Backline looks great. Glad to see Patchell back at 10, really hope he plays a blinder. If they get good ball, they could cause some damage.

Overall a little apprehensive given the lack of caps up front, but understand why Gats has done it, and hopeful for a decent enough platform up front to allow the exciting backs a chance to showcase their ability.

Interesting! I actually do like the way now in 2018, teams that might have been 2nd tier 20 years ago, are actually taking on and winning games against established rugby nations, and not being afraid to shout about it. Not sure if Argentina are or were 2nd tier or not so hope I hven't made my point badly. If I did I have I apologize.

This is a controversy waiting to happen...
Apparently the ref for this game is Welsh but as he lives in Ireland he comes under the IRFU. Who thought it was a good idea to appoint him to this game?

Oh dear! So when (if) we win the nay-sayers will already have their lines well and truly rehearsed!

The return of Matera. I don't think he recover as soon of the injury. He's welcome.

That's a rather large pack, I really don't think the Welsh will be able to stand up to it.

Four Davies in the line-up. Are they brothers or is it a very common surname?.

Just a common Welsh name, however, 7 - James davies is the brother of the centre Jonathan Davies who is currently injured. There is also another Davies (Bradley) in the squad.

Common surname, though Jon Davies (currently injured) is the brother of James Davies (starting #7).

I remember a few years back (in the hairbear days) you could almost put out a whole Wales squad with the surname Jones, and it actually be a solid side as well (no routing around the lower levels to fill in the gaps)

Here's a stab at using as little surnames as possible. Liam Williams, Steff Evans, Jon Davies, Scott Williams, Jordan Williams, Jarrod Evans, Gareth Davies, Rob Evans, Ken Owens, Rhodri Jones (barely a tight head), Seb Davies, Brad Davies, Lewis Evans, James Davies, Nick Williams (he hasn't played for NZ so he is available end of next season.) :p

A back row and a hooker off from a full team of 3 surnames :D
