I think this will be a really interesting match. Both teams are at reasonable strength. I like how Marcato has been kept at Full Back, continuing the Italian obsession with having their kicker at full back.

I'm interested to see how this Luke McLean chap plays. Any background on him guys?

Luke McLean played a good season on Super 10 with the new italian champs Calvisano.

He's a former FH (high school) who now plays at FB...but he's physically strong and that's enough for Nick Mallett to pick him as a pivot.
He's left foot and a decent kicker.

Marcato will never play flyhalf because he's not enough reliable in defence and has not enough physical force for playing the pivotal role for Nick Mallett.

If Luke will show is potential he could keep his place at 10 for long time....if not he will be another overstimated player like Wakarua.

Have all the props in Argentina suddenly fallen ill? Starting Gomez?

well...i'm new in this forum, so i say hello to everyone!! :)

referring to the match...i think that with hernandez playing instead of todeschini, argentina has a little more chances to win.

Eche_17 ;)

goog luck to all argentinian rugby fans for the match... I'm itlian, I hope we'll play a great match.. but argentina is a very good and strong team!!

Half time

Argentina leads 12 to Italy 3.

Poor discipline by Los Pumas, very poor ideas by the Azzurri.

Full time

Argentina 12 - Italy 13 (12-6)

Italy won the test scoring 13 points against Argentina wich scored only 4 penalties (12 points).

Thrilling finale with two scrums at five metres then a couple of pick and go finished by Ghiraldini who scored the first try of the match.

Marcato converted by the 22 line sealing the victory for the Mallet's boyz.

A very poor match played by both teams. Argentina was very undisciplined conceeding almost 25 penalties. Italy was incapable of a back line game of any sort.

The italian scrum deserved this achievement for their solid effort.

lmao, I'd completely forgotten about that joker! Where is McLean actually from? NZ?
Congratulations to Italy tonight. By the sounds it wasn't an inspirational encounter, but any victory in Argentina is a good one!

McLean is australian. He has italian passport beacuse of his mother.
In Italy there is a big dissent by the all fans to this policy of our union....but if the coach picks him we have just to support him...even though we don't like this way !

I prefer Marcato as Fh but i'm not the italian coach....

If we stop to pick foreign players to play for Italy we'd stay at 20th place on IRB ranking....that's not what the FIR want...

I suppose it's a necessary evil if you want to progress and succeed as a rugbying nation.
How did he perform tonight at FH?

His second international againstst Los Pumas was pretty poor...
But some people says he will be the substitue of Gerald Fraser who is the flyhalf of Calvisano.
GF is a scottish who plays in Super 10 very well....but was injured for june tour.

Congratulations to Italy! At least Italy have found a consistent kicker.

As for Argentina, where does this leave them in all this World Cup Seeding business? Indeed, now Italy sit level with Argentina on wins so far, where does it leave Italy?!

That settles it! After Italy's emphatic and dominanat last-minute win over Argentina, and Wales' pathetic losses at ther hand of South Africa:
Viadana must be > Ospreys!

Hm...I wonder when a French or English team will notice and scoop up Andrea Marcato - they're very good at whoring Italian talent.

Hang on Hang on. Wales managed to score tries and points against South Africa, Italy didn score a single point against the Boks.

Yeh but while they only conceded 26 points, we conceded 80 points - an average of 40 points per game! :D
