Are there any Farmers/Hunters on here that could lend me a gun?

All he has to do is just an adequate job and because he has 0 expectations there
I disagree. He's a 21 times capped international who's signed a 3 year deal. Buckley is commited to Sale long term. They must have big expectations of him. I hope Steve Diamond can improve him as a player since it'll be good for Ireland but he's not made any significant progress in the 7 or 8 years that he's been groomed as Ireland's future tighthead.

I agree with that but nobody has any hope in him to start with so that must say something. I know Steve Diamond is a fine coach and I believe this will be a success not to the scales of Buckley been a World class prop but to extent he will earn respect

Steve Diamond knows less about what it take to be a top level prop then Tony Buckley does! (Unless of course, he's on about League props *coughSheridanwouldbeperfectcough*)

3 years yes but I know the money isn't huge. I agree it a gamble but Tony got too comfortable here and fell in to bad habits. I think new surroundings and challenge will be good for him and he can do a good job.
Sale do have faith in him and I think this is good deal for all involved with us getting Ross hopefully.
And if Sale improve Buckleys scrummaging then it'll be superb for Ireland. There nothing to loose in this deal really for all except Sale

A good deal for all involved except:
a) Sale who are signing Buckle
b) Leinster who may be losing Mike Ross so Munster can replace Buckle
c) Connacht who've lost Jamie Hagan to compete with/replace Ross

Basically, if Munster can replace Buckle with Ross it'll be brilliant news for them and nobody else!

All i can say is he has been given more opportunities to improve his career than any other sportsman i can remember.

Allowed play "through" incredibly bad form at Munster and Ireland, has never really repaid the faith shown in him by coaches........

I'd disagree Snoop in terms Ross was always lined up by us to replace Hayes. Leinster wouldve got Hagan regardless and yes I accept ye loose Ross but still have a decent level of competition.
Connacht wouldve lost regardless unless we send Archer which is considered.
But yes I'm happy Munster look to have done good business overall and well I hope Buckley does improve as a player. But will also say he is a nice guy but Sale mustve checked that he is prone to virus and illness and hope the cold weather up in Stockport don't effect him :D

Bullshit. If Munster always planned for Ross to take over from Hayes, why did they sign the younger Buckle from Connacht and allow Ross leave? Was allowing Ross wither in the AIL for Cork Con before joining Harlequins for 2 years and Leinster for a further 2 years part of a grand plan?

Munster are well within their rights to approach an out of contract Ross. He'd immediately help fix the glaring weakness in their team. That said, saying this was always the plan simply isn't true. They see an opportunity arise and wish to grab it. All of which has nowt to do with Buckle joining Sale................

What height is Sale's hooker 'cos if he's 5'7 and surrounded by the 8'4" tall Sheridan and Buckle, it'll be damn funny seeing them try to scrummage as a unit!

First choice (Neil Briggs who is out injured but will be there next season) is 5ft8
Second choice is 6ft2, which is more respectable, then third choice is 6ft0

Locks won't be able to get their shoulder behind both arses.

I meant that in terms of this season when we identified early in the season the problems in our scrum, I don't mean years ago. We had Ross in our sight to replace Hayes from early this season, That is fact.
Buckley was offered a contract and refused it because of incidents he isn't happy with. That is the truth.

Hah! That's what you get for saying Cai Griffiths should be called up.
Eifion to France could be more likely with this.

Worked out why they signed Buckley now

Eifion went out injured in the first game or so of the season, so they've got a load of #3 shirts in size XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL that they need to use, so they hired the only prop going that is roughly the same size as him

He has signed on until 2013(?) but I think Toulouse could get him released with a nicely sized cheque.

Hmm. Why would anyone want to sign an awful player who has proven himself to be awful at every level he's played at? Terrible signing for any top division club.
