Are The USA a Soccer Powerhouse Yet?

No, not yet. Their domestic competitions are sending them in the right direction though.

They`ve got a lot to improve, but the path is the right one.

But I just can`t see them as a powerhouse, they`re behind african nations, Japan...

I don't think they can do anything against other leagues (Liga, Premiership, Calcio...) or countries (Brazil, Argentina, England, Germany...). Not now or in a future.
You can learn football rules, tactics and so on, but playing football is not only that.

A powerhouse yet? No way. I think we just were/are WAY too over hyped because of one match where we beat a **** poor overrated Portugal side in 2002.
If we turn to a powerhouse, it won't be within the next 15 years. We'll be decent/good but not that great. Just always a step above the overrated Mexico.

USA, Australia and New Zealand are the powerhouses of soccer. Everyone else plays football ;)

calm down your gonna do yourself some damage I dont really support any international team just enjoy watching a good game and i dont think the usa will ever be a powerhouse in world FOOTBALL

Didnt they get up to 6th in the world rankings a couple of years back though? ahead of "powerhouses" like Germany, Holland etc..

Also i thought they were one of the best teams in the 02 world cup, everyone was waayy behind Brazil but they really did impress me.

No, Japan is a soccer powerhouse too. Football here (I live in Japan) means Gridiron ;) .
