Kieran Read will be out for at least 5 weeks with a torn ligament according to All Blacks doctor Deb Robinson while Adam Thomson will miss the opening match against Tonga next week.

Both players are expected to stay in the squad which still leaves Liam Messam at home twiddling his thumbs. Great opportunity for Victor Vito to cement a spot in the 22 while Sam Whitelock will cover #6 behind Jerome Kaino.

I though I'd start this thread now in the expectation that it will become significantly longer after we face Tonga.

It's looking a little bleak to be honest. We need a match fit Read. Thompson I could care less about, I'd rather replace him with Scott Waldrom but Read is very important, and I worry about his first match back from injury being a RWC QF. With the being said, I bet Victor Vito can't believe his luck. Two weeks ago he thought he was out of the Tri Nations, then he gets a RWC call up out of no where, and now he's looking like he'll start every game till the QF.
