A Political Thread pt. 2

Reform are actually doing well...people. Seriously? Seriously? 🤦‍♂️

Better now, and showing themselves as unable to govern in councils, than doing it on a national stage.

Good news is it might force Labour into moving away from FPTP. They have the majority to push that through now and I'd imagine the HoL would be reasonably receptive.

The other, rather obvious, solution is to get rid of the HoL as nominated peers, and replace it with an assembly formed by proportional representation of all parties - and restore its power to block legislation from the still constituency based and still FPTP HoC.

Getting rid of HoL probably would be something that would fall on fertile soil in most Labour constituencies, if not maybe MPs offices as they might see the cushy retirement number disappear.

What Labour do and what Labour voters would support are not very aligned... I do wish they'd stop chasing the right wing vote. God knows the Tories do absolutely nothing to chase the left wing one.

Official White House post

I don't know how any of his 'sane' supporters can think this is appropriate.

It's amazing lol.

Look at the news articles, Trump wants to be pope, Trump disrespects Christianity, Trump mocks pope Francis death hahaha

People who didn't vote for him and who would never vote for him are outraged for the 3rd time this week, about a picture lol, leaving the general public to laugh at their outrage and discredit them, and the main stream media even further.

Wait another 3 or 4 days for the next event...

What’s your view on it?

Perhaps a poll is needed to find out who deserves to be ignored more vigorously - Prince Harry or Dirty Harry.
Easially Dirty. Prince for all his faults is thrust up there by "luck" of birth and a media which will invent **** to sell paper.

I do with he'd be quiet but understand some of it is because he does need security arrangements we dont and the media are determine to make a story out of him regardless.

I don't think curently Labour and the red wall seats / North/ East England seem to like the left either.
There is a massive left community particularly in the cities. Unfortuantely one of the first things KS did as Labour leader was to purge almost all - and most of the rest left on their own accord. When it came to voting almost none even considered voting labour but the votes were spread so thin amongst LD/Green/local parties/Independents that the illusion given was that labour was popular.
In my seat of Newcastle C&W for example. 2 independants 1 ld 1 green all ran very small campaigns with almost no co-ordination or showcasing and collectively took about 11k votes, roughly the same as con/ref combined who both campaigned hard as did our labour mp who got 18k, several k fewer than 2019 - many people just didn't know about the other 4.

There's now a collective called Majority being started up, headed by the likes of Jamie O'Driscoll which is intended as a left bloc of independents and others to campaign etc together and oust some of the blue labour reps. For context Jamie O'D was deselected by labour for not kaw-towing to Starmer and in somewhere like durham which has just voted reform, only got 1k fewer votes than the labour candidate

I have some sympathy for the guy. Losing your mum in such circumstances as kid is probably going to f@ck you up.

I think he's more bought in her dislike of the of what the Royal family is, the spin and circus. Whilst William is fully on script with the family line and duty.

When you look at the family as a whole it's no surprise than not many of them are exactly well adjusted, sensible or 'normal' for want of a better word. All of them are various shades of bonkers and as far removed from average Joe as you can get.
