A Political Thread pt. 2

Might explain it?

I'm sure there are some flaws to this, but I'm not smart enough to refute this peice of work, he makes a decent argument...

The only thing off the top of my head is that the world and industry has changed in the last 40 years, I'm not sure mass is the way to go.

Jesus... adult men behaving like children...all of you, actually
I did bring a giant stick home with me in the car when coming back from a mortgage meeting with the GF just because it was a very good stick...

I swear men have some in-built appreciation of a good stick. You know it when you see it.

I haven't had time to watch this yet (30mins is a lot and staying up to date with the newsagents is hard) but my understanding is the chap is pretty good.

I think the issue all stems from selling of council houses and right to buy which rather turned us from a nation of homeowners turned us into a nation of renters. Which in turns leads to prices going up well above inflation because council stock isn't keeping the prices in check. Now with growth and wage stagnation housing is really the only one true investment for making money coupled with the fact private pensions since the 90's have been at 'shocking' owning property become how you plan to live later in life.

Gonna take a smarter guy than I am to fix 40+ years of economic decisions.

TL;DR - The governor of Maine was in conflict with the Trump administration over the policy on trans people in sports. In response, a member of the administration issued a blanket cancellation on all federal contracts with Maine relating to social security, in essence messing the system up and opening it up for fraud. A released email shows this was done as a purely retaliatory action.

So the Trump administration has now decided that it is fair and right for the federal government to completely gut the process of applying for and tracking social security numbers for an entire state over a disagreement about trans athletes. This is an abuse of power.

I'm 13mins and he just raised Right to Buy...nice to see someone more clearly explain what I think 😉

I just aboutngot to the same point while driving, I've come acrossnthisnguyba number of times and he makes some excellent points, I don't like the way he frames everything as wealth inequality, and he uses the term 'rich' vaguely on purpose.

Despite agreeing with him, there's something extremely unlikable about his demeanor, is that just me?

He doesn't come across as diplomatic but then I don't think he's trying to be. It seems to be something he thinks is a big issue that's not being addressed and tbh I felt the same with my earlier rant about wealth getting hoarded in the Boomer generation. There's definitely something going very wrong and it's very clear that the wealthy are the only ones not getting screwed over, and yet any discussion about taxing them more is immediately shut down. They are the only ones not hurting and the only ones who can shoulder more burden yet aren't ever being asked to.

Wealth inequality in general is not covered much and very often couched in terms such as it's everyone's own fault they are not wealthy and all the wealthy people fully deserve whatever they get. I've never wrapped my head around how someone says a billionaire is entitled to their billions because they worked hard but will then turn around and say your average person is acting entitled for demanding a salary increase to simply offset rising costs of living.
