A Political Thread pt. 2

2) He has mates and organisations behind the scenes that stand to make colossal sums of money off the back of the stock market crashing in shall we say a very predictable way...

This. It's how they get their political donations back and make a ton of dough on the side. A massive transfer of wealth from average Joe.

Current tax year £20k ISA allowance ends tomorrow at midnight although markets close later today. I'm buying the dip. Remember any capital gains on a stocks & shares ISA are tax free.

New tax year's ISA allowance can be used next week if the slide continues.

As Warren said - be greedy when others are fearful and be fearful when others are greedy.

Edit: Buffet not Gatland.

BBC News - White House fires National Security Agency chief

The Trump Whitehouse now firing national security advisors for being "not loyal", which has been shown to Jean "doing their job and not agreeing to break the law".

None of the people fired have been involved in any of the scandals and we're in place before Trump came to office. It seems like they just have been trying to actually do their jobs.

No doubt Trumpers will get again have excuses for the national security of the USA being completely undermined.

FTSE down over 300 points today thanks to strumpet. Dow jones futures down 1200 overnight indicating another poor day for the DJIA to come.

Is that you winning is it? Owning the Euro Libs? Showing us who's boss?
No, the objective is very clear. All the hand-wringing and drama around this is perplexing to me, considering the proportionality of harm is greater on us than the rest of the world in the short term.

It's simple: Trump has bet his entire legacy on reshaping the American economy and reducing our dependence on China. China cannot be our main adversary, yet we continue to rely heavily on them for critical goods. The current obsession with Taiwan is largely on American radars due to its chip production. Biden rightly helped us lessen our dependence, but that must accelerate.

Trump will either succeed or fail, and that is how history will remember him. As an American, I hope it works. If he fails, my family will likely suffer. If he fails, it will be American lives that die protecting Taiwan, not yours.

Again, criticize the plan, criticize the man, criticize us for voting for him; all that is kosher with me. But unlike your leaders who continue to buy a record amount of Russian gas, we are at least TRYING to change the geopolitical landscape.

So, no, owning the Euro libs is not winning. Breaking our multi-decade dependence on China and other countries' cheap imported junk is winning.

Lovely thinking, so why does Trump continually lie if that's his reasoning? Why 56% on the Falkland Islands? Do you need to break your dependence on Falkland Islands wool or something?

If you get in a shooting match over Taiwan the likelihood is the UK will stand with you. Because it's the right thing to do. When in all reality we should say "Go f#ck yourselves".

Let's be honest any intervention you make in Taiwan will involve a bill. America no longer does things for the greater good. Sure they'll make up for any loses.

Not sure the UK gets much Russian gas. Don't forget the US does about 3.5billion dollars in trade still with Russia

How are you going to "stand with you" regarding Taiwan? You don't have a functional military. Your austerity policies and horrible governance have left you powerless. Plus, Keir wants to place your dwindling number of troops in Ukraine.

Are you going to hold a committee meeting? Publish a strongly worded letter to Xi? Post a solidarity picture on social media?

well if your administration hadn't and continues to be arseholes to your allies then perhaps you wouldn't be the only ones using your lives to protect Taiwan a country you are currently wacking tariffs on.
