Trump agreed to help Zelensky find Patriot missile systems, per administration readout of call

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked President Donald Trump for additional Patriot missile systems, and Trump told him he'd help him find what was available "particularly in Europe," according to a readout of the two leaders' call from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and national security adviser Mike Waltz.

The statement also noted that the two leaders "agreed to share information closely between their defense staffs," with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who first read the statement at today's press briefing, telling reporters that intelligence sharing for defense will be shared between the US and Ukraine.

Trump also "discussed Ukraine's electrical supply and nuclear power plants," according to the statement and suggested American ownership.

"He said that the United States could be very helpful in running those plants with its electricity and utility expertise. American ownership of those plants would be the best protection for that infrastructure and support for Ukrainian energy infrastructure," the statement said.

Trump "fully briefed" Zelensky on his phone call yesterday with Russian President Putin, with the statement saying that the nations agreed to what it called "a partial ceasefire against energy."

"Technical teams will meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to discuss broadening the ceasefire to the Black Sea on the way to a full ceasefire. They agreed this could be the first step toward the full end of the war and ensuring security. President Zelenskyy was grateful for the President's leadership in this effort and reiterated his willingness to adopt a full ceasefire," Waltz and Rubio said.

What else to know about the call: Trump and Zelensky also discussed Ukrainian air defenses, prisoners of war and children abducted by Russia, a source told CNN, saying the call was ""not just a recall of yesterday's conversation" with Putin. The telephone call was longer than initially expected, the source said. "President Trump asked many questions, including which (air defense) systems are the best, what can really work and how to help," the source added

Also he wants others to supply the patriot missile system. (Mind you that might be a good idea they can then be replaced with European weapons systems and get rid of the american junk)

the interesting thing...most/all the smart or effective things he does...are behind the scenes....the mad seemingly stupid/confrontations/aggressive things are on camera....its almost as if a government is more than one person and there is an army of diplomats in the background reframing or straight up fixing what has just been said at the podium.....of course if that was the case people that did all the real work with no credit would probably refuse to come back for the season term.....oh wait
 
I don't think he's well. Hasn't been for a long time and it's getting worse. Somehow, it's been ignored or at least conveniently so by those around him for power.

Yeah funny isn't it how all those with prominent positions within his last government have nothing good to say about him, the only president to be so widely panned by his own staffers. As I mentioned earlier, although it seems clearly others don't believe me, my cousin worked at the British embassy in Washington DC during the first Trump administration and spoke directly with people in the administration. They confirmed that what you saw in public wasn't the worst of Trump, it was the best of Trump. Behind the scenes he is even worse. A lot of his worst impulses were tempered by those with some sanity the first time round and news of that wouldn't have been made public until much later, by then the cult was in full swing and wouldn't listen to anyone who said anything about Trump.

His supporters love to dismiss any criticism of him as just TDS but those who actually worked with him and actually saw what he is like in private have pretty much to a man all said he is stupid, impulsive and very quick to anger.

Trump is no businessmen...

It's hard to take people seriously when claiming billionaire businessmen, who become leader of the free world twice are just petulant children who luck into these things... the hubris on you man!

I'm not saying he's a genius, but let's be honest, he's super accomplished, dumb people don't acheive as much as he has.

I don't understand why it's so difficult to have honest discussions about Trump, it turns to hyperbole within seconds.

We can agree despite Mr A. Dolph being heinous and enacting atrocities, he had strengths as a leader, he was charismatic and a good public speaker, and great at appointing smart people around him.

We don't need to support someone to acknowledge these things, it's why I seem to end up looking pro Trump, and it's merely because I take an unbiased holistic view of situations.

I read an article previously written by someone within the cabinet, I forget who it was. And he discussed how every president had a gimmick, a needle point I think he called it, that they played to in order to craft narratives and distract the public...

The young charismatic ladies man, the moron, the classy statesman, the senile grandpa and the brash egomaniac...

Ultimately the president is a captain of a ship, but he doesn't steer the ship, the ship takes its own course.

This is disingenuous for a number of reasons, I think your referring to the viral tweet that 40 of the 44 cabinet members halves not returned...

Firstly, there was a 4 year gap between being in office and returning, what are people meant to twiddle their thumbs. People grow and have differing agendas and need to position differently.

Secondly, Trump didn't have the power first time around he does now, he chose a number of Republican appeasing members last time, who turned out not to align for differing reasons, some their fault some Trumps.

How many of them have disendorsed Trump, is it 2 from the list?

My point is, once again you are finding 100% fault where realistically there are nuanced reasons for a lot of it.

What's a 4 year gap got to do with anything? I was talking about those who worked with him not having a good thing to say about him and confirming the worst aspects of what he was like behind the scenes. A 4 year gap between terms should have zero bearing on that.

So you mean he chose people that were to some degrees NORMAL and not in a cult of personality? Again, no other president has had their ex cabinet members criticise them in the same way as Trump and certainly none have listed them as a threat to the nation. Don't pull that strawman. Nowhere have I said these are "good" people or "my" people, and I notice that you actually didn't address the point at all. You have not explained why all these right wing people don't have a good thing to say about Trump. For someone who claims to care about "truth", your constant and repeated dodging of evidence being put before you displays a supreme intellectual cowardice.

It's clear your claims of wanting the truth are pure bullshit. You've nailed your colours to the mast.
