I never understand why they keep wanting to expand Heathrow and not Gatwick.Airport expansion puts the government on the flight path to years of trouble and strife
On top of the added levels of noise and air pollution, there’s the non-trivial matter of demolishing hundreds of homes, diverting several waterways and rerouting a long stretch of the M25www.theguardian.com
The language is so scary. Calling government departments criminal organisations from effectively an unelected businessman who has been given a government role.

Gatwick is the largest single runway in Europe, 2nd busiest in the UK, 8th in Europe, handled 60m+ per year, has excellent transport links (M23, dedicated rail direct from the terminal) and already has a runway designated as an emergency runway already in situ which can handle some 80% of existing planes (all but the biggest)
The agreement to not allow a 2nd runway expired 5 years ago. Planning permission was sought July 2023 and they're still waiting and yet you don't hear anybody from government supporting it.
It has 1 mile access to the M23 to the M25 and it has a dedicated rail service station in the south terminal, since 1958 it's has rail services.Gatwick doesn't have good transport links. It's in the wrong place in London unless your coming from the South East.
Now making other airports more viable like Birmingham that's a far better idea.
A couple of those MPs are in constituencies unaffected by noise, I lived in Tunbridge Wells, 25 miles away, for 20 years (Tonbridge is right next door) we never noticed aircraft noise at all. Martin has only been an MP since July so has missed most of the planning anyway.MPs call for delay to Gatwick Airport expansion decision
The MPs argue that aircraft noise "isn't being comprehensively or accurately monitored".www.bbc.co.uk
Decision due end of this month.
The whole thing reeks of corruption and fascism. Nothing of what they are doing is legal yet nobody seems to give a ****. Republicans repeatedly show what scumbags they are. They are trampling over the law, all over the Constitution and over basic human decency. Democrats though are so painfully ******* feeble. Their responses are so weak and pathetic. Republicans would get everyone worked up, foam and the mouths and get their base regurgitating their message over completely fabricated wrong doing whilst Democrats are completely incapable of nudging public opinion beyond mild apathy on the most rampant attack on the core values of the USA since the civil war...The language is so scary. Calling government departments criminal organisations from effectively an unelected businessman who has been given a government role.
Oh Gatwick airport my first airport where I've been to when flew to London many years ago. Flew there from one country where I lived then, and next one was Luton when I changed a country of living. I liked Gatwick much more than LutonMPs call for delay to Gatwick Airport expansion decision

Yeah, I just read that.US elections are bought in one way or another. In this case Musk has basically bought the co-Presidency for $300m.
Yeah, I just read that.
What's the betting he tries to do it here with reform?
