2034 - what will the game look like?

So in 10 years time, what do we think the game will look like?

A 7 nations?
No more B&I Lions?
Argentina winning a world cup?
A European Championship?

Probably not.
Extremely unlikely.

Hopefully not, as A] it risks the Southern most tip of Africa being called European... again; and because 7 is too unwieldy - I'd rather see promotion and relegation between 6N and REC.
Can't see that happening - one of the few competitions that actually brings money into the game. Hopefully an expanded roster of hosts at some point, though unlikely in 10 years.

I think in Europe we could have an 8 team European championship every 4 years, 2 x groups, can be hosted on rotation in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy

looking locally im worried about the game in Aus / NZ....i just dont think it popular enough anymore to be sustainable

I thought the game was the main sport in New Zealand?

Really think the super collapse has a lot to answer for in the SH. The greed and self ambitions of some of the nations ruined the whole thing unfortunately.

main sport but still no money in it really, and theres been this big cultural shift since i was a kid, the idea of going to watch a game live is just becoming less and less of a thing, kiwis are pretty laid back too...so the super passionate support that buys all the merch and goes to get the team just isnt common in NZ anymore

Aren't more kids getting involved in footy (soccer) as well? Less concern about injuries and concussions from the parents compared to rugby.

my understand is thats been the case for decades, since i was in school they been saying it

**** is expensive in NZ, use to be an old adage that you had to ignore exchange rates when travelling, a pint or a big mac were a similar amount of dollar as pounds.....but my feeling in the last 20 year thats very much changed. how much is a pint in london on average? happy hour last night was $12 pints, think theyre $16 normally...supporters jerseys (to bring it back to rugby are $180-220 (depending on team and pro jersey v supporters jersey)....for super rugby we pay $400ish for a season ticket...for 7 games....i think a season ticket for AFC wimbledon is similar for 22 games (havent checked).....average house price in auckland is well over a Million...add on to that kiwis just arent super passionate on mass (obviously some are)

i also think we're a big country with small population...so travel between city's is long and expensive so there is no away a support for sport
