[2023 Six Nations] Italy vs France - 5 February 2023

Ireland won't fear playing France at HQ too much of the basis of that game.

Is DuPont simply that quick or did he get away with a few off sides those charge downs/almost charge downs were immense, fact that Italy didn't really attempt to combat it speaks volumes on where they need to improve to compete and take their game up a notch.

It's the hope that kills you - as soon as France looked disinterested after about 10 mins I thought this was on the cards. Poor Tam Allan had a return of his early career jitters and has only his impeccable Scottish/Italian genes to console him.

Great physicality in the pack, boldness in the backs and a team filled with Italian produced players like never before. So I won't cry into my root beer despite the missed opportunity and likely being favourites for another bit of wooden cutlery.

On the basis of that Ire heavy favourites. I've been saying for some time that France lack a proper openside. Too many tall gangly flankers

The Italian back row was on fire especially Negri (6)

Could not be more embarassing than Carley, really, the guy was on a mission tonight...
Just a quick look at the penalty count for those who have seen the match. You can shout "discipline" all you want, but this is called bias.

Rubbish. Some of the best reffing in a while, communication was impeccable

Sure, as Carley said when Dupont inquired about the 17th penalty, "End of discussion".
Excellent communication indeed !
Why couldn't we have a SH ref for the match against Ireland next week ?

Just for the stats buffs around, 18 penalties conceded is a 6N record (equalizes Italy's performance against Ireland in 2021, when Italy lost 10-48 in Rome).
It seems this is the first time a team wins a game while conceding more than 15 penalties in a game. Not to mention penalty tries.
Just food for thoughts...

Wanna point out which ones were not?

Can you remember another occasion when a dominant team leading on the scoreboard for the whole match and ending up winning the match with a 58% territory advantage, 100% of mauls gained, 35 defenders beaten against 13 and a 93% tackle rate ended a game with 18 penalties conceded and 7 gained ?

Come on lads, it was clearly in the 6 nations and world rugby's best interest to ruin the first ever match between the 1st and 2nd ranked teams that the competition has ever had.

Well done France on overcoming almost insurmountable odds
