2023-2024 transfers

Marc jones and will cliff back to Sale
Happy enough with jones, was always a big fan.
I like cliff, too, but if (as rumours suggest) the two 9s we're signing are cliff and Dickson then we've really **** the bed on recruitment there.
If it's cliff and someone good then he's a decent enough squad 9

Thought I posted it but turn out not,

Bristol sign Luke Morahan for next season.

This guy

I'm surpised that all your top youngsters are signing 5 year deals.

That is a long time I assume clauses are prob in place.

I'd be amazed if there wasn't, to be honest.
I could understand the Curry brothers signing for so long, as isn't there a clause that makes it hard for clubs to sign from others academies? It was essentially a money top up for the rest of their academy life and then a 3 year senior deal on top.
The others, I imagine, have reviews every 2 years, or whatever.

It's an interesting one, have to assume there are clauses, but for a player to be willing to sign a 5 year deal, even with some clauses, I have to assume it's a very good deal for the player.

The cynic in me wonders if it's an inevitable consequence of the increase and rise we're seeing in transfer fees.
Say in 4 years the Curries are regular starters for England, but want to move out, that's potentially a million quid in transfer fee between them.

Bath have introduced football-style transfer fees, maybe sale are introducing football-style contracts to profit from them?
Of course, I'm also sure that they want to keep hold of the very promising players, and may well pay less for the salary by offering stability before the player's true value is know .

That's a very good point, to be fair.
We do create a fair few players, but manage to hold on to not that many. This could be a way of making sure get some return from our academy.

I very much doubt they'll be paying much less to get a signature for a 5 year deal. Maybe if they turn into superstars (even then, they'll only be mid twenties), but if they just level out at AP standard?

My guess is Sale have paid well for the 5 year contract. Sale get the stability they need, and potentially very very good players, the players get a secured future and probably a decent slab of wages.

Disappointed that Nott and the Curry bros are all gonna be at the same club for the next 5 years. Means one of the Curry's will always either be in the wrong position or not starting, and Nott's doomed to the second row, when I think he's clearly a 6. Potentially wasted talent here.

With Strauss on his way and both Curry's signed on does it mean Se are looking at Beaumont as a lock?

4. Beaumont
5. Nott
6. Curry
7. Curry
8. Strauss

Is a good looking back 5.

Josh has always wanted to play lock, presumably the ambitions have doubled since being in the England camp (EJ said he views him solely as a lock).

What is it about him that everyone is so reluctant to play him in the back row? Not enough carrying capacity?

I think there's only two people that don't want him in the backrow and that's EJ and Josh

Guess that makes sense, lots of folks in at 8
Clifford didn't exactly stake a claim to the back row as competition though did he...
