[2022 Six Nations] Ireland vs Wales (05/02/22)

Still a little disappointed for Balacoune over Hansen, but Hume has been absolutely outstanding this year and fully deserves some recognition for that, though it says something that no Henshaw in that 23

No arguments with the rest of that team, irish backrow atm (Leinster backrow soz) is pure porn

Do you think it's a case that they simply couldn't leave Hume out after his form (especially after taking the bold move to release Baloucoune)?

Henshaw just seems like the more logical bench option in terms of experience and versatility.

Nope, I think we supporters make a big deal of this at times, but realistically this is an English coach who couldnt give 2 shits about the irish divide, he'll pick what he thinks is his best team any given week

Hume playing well, really happy for him that he made bench. Will be good to see him in this game, put some doubts to rest!

I didn't mean the Irish divide more so the form Hume is in if it's hard to leave him out.

Can't wait for the Kelleher-Sheehan 1-2 combo. Punch them right in the mouth.

Will see if any injury news comes out but we're in a weird situation where our best centre might not be part of our best centre partnership.

Gonna ignore the gombeen.

One thing I am slightly disappointed with is O'Mahoney over Coombes on the bench. Not that I think O'Mahoney will do a bad job but I can imagine Coombes carrying at that stage being a gamebreaker.

Please let nobody take a knee before kick off. I want to watch this, not turn it off.
Imagine coming back after a year just to post that. :D

Anyway, I think Biggar is actually quite the complete package now and can distribute well bringing backline in. Failing that you've always got Sheedy on the bench who is very familair with the expansive southern hemisphere style game Pivac seemingly wants to try. Be interesting to see how it goes given the experimental nature of Wales, particularly Adams at 13.

Really hoping this is the switch for away matches. I like POM at home where we tend to control the tempo but Coombes or Timoney would be better options away.

To be fair O'Mahony offers more of what is probably needed in the last 20. Gav has been excellent but is still recovering from a rough November.

@Le Frére Alpha Conway has actually been excellent recently for Munster and this form along with his displays in November have him the start but more interesting RB not kept as an extra man

Yeah I agree. They might be worried about missing a 7 style player, but Doris is fast and a turnover threat anyway, and Coombes can make up for VDFs tackling.

Agree with both but leave Gav a week or 2 get up to speed in that camp. He is not 100% there yet.

Looking at it now:
- No issues with Hansen as he has been good but had some rough patches and over a 4 month period. I would argue Lowry and to a lesser extent Balacoune can feel agrieved for producing a higher ceiling and more consistently over period. But that is knit picking.
Carty must feel annoyed too. Joey with no rugby in a while in ahead of him.

I'm a big fan of Hume too but if our wingers go down it could be bad.
Keenan can cover there and Joey to 15 but Hugo isn't an international level wing. Yes a 15. Equally Ringrose can go there but that pulls him out of 13.

I think Hansen is in there for his style of play: he can go through the middle and cause problems similar to Lowe. Good offloader too.

I think it will be Ringrose to wing and Hume to 13 definitely if a wing goes down. Conway to fullback or Carbery to fullback if Keenan goes down,
