2016 World Rugby U20 Championship

I'm not contesting that, just that I was happy with the decision... haven't watched it back though, so maybe I'd feel differently if I did.
Apol.s - I thought you were saying "good decision" as in "Correct decision"

Yo has the pro gambler dude got a single prediction right yet?

Lol @ Marchant

Full back line out, probably like with an overlap if the last half is anything to go by, cross field kick to a prop...

Who??

Did that guy just dab when his team is 30 points down?

To his FB who was yelling and waving for a CFK.

Kick was good (not necessarily right decision) - attempted catch was non-existant.

Tuned in... even worse than I'd have thought. Tuning out. Two teams clear and away ahead of the rest of them. Should be a cracking final! I'll tune into that as this is just not a contest it seems.

This - not a bad decision TBH, and well executed - to give the FB a good chance to compete (had he read its flight in the air) whilst giving the prop a chance to backup and take an offload, or support a ruck etc if necessary.

I'd have like to have seen a replay of that, didn't look high at all to me.

Ah, my mistake then. I'd still argue that a cross field kick is risky enough that you don't take the option without having cover defence there if necessary. Although it was clearly a deliberate tactic from England, so Marchant can't be blamed for giving it a go.

I almost thought our senior side played , they looked that bad. SA not in the same class as England.Congrats to Ireland and England, it's gonna be a great game.

A fair bit of interesting feedback on betting in this tournament. Some of it accurate and I'll take on board, other bits not so much.

Look Credit to Ireland, they destroyed Argentina in that first half an hour. I didn't see it coming and I did lose bit of money on it backing Argentina. Argentina had played some good expansive rugby against France and South Africa topping a tricky pool, and I thought they'd be able to attack Ireland out wide like what happened in Cardiff in the WC QF. I didn't rate Ireland too highly before yesterday for a few reasons. Their win in wet conditions over New Zealand was caused by a dominant pack and set piece, I thought Argentina would match them up front. Their win over Wales seemed to me to be more a case of Wales stopping playing after 25 minutes rather than Ireland doing anything spectacular. I was wrong, Ireland played well and are clearly a strong team, I lost £500, but that's the life of a gambler.

I won £1000 on backing England to beat SA by 7 or more points. We didn't play well against Australia, but we've been dominant throughout the group stage, and I watched all three of South Africa's group games and didn't think much of them. They don't even have the strong pack they had in previous years. England were brilliant and we should now go on to win the championship.

As for my original claim that England would be 85-90% favourites in a final against Ireland, this was probably a bit too bold. But I didn't foresee Ireland winning by 30 points against Argentina. No one did, they were 2 point underdogs at most bookies as you guys pointed out. Because of Ireland's strong performance they're 20-25% underdogs, at 3/1 for the win, and about 12 point underdogs.

I'm not saying Ireland can't win the final. It's pretty unlikely though, they've relied on bullying weaker packs and on Saturday they won't be able to do that. I'm not some biased English patriot, I'm just telling things how I see it. For example I think Ireland are a great pick at 10/3 to win the deciding test in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, and England are a rubbish bet at Even Money to win the third test against Australia.

Pretty unlikely? They've come through a tougher route to get to the final and beat England already. :O

And they have not relied on the pack. That does a disservice to the backs who have been very good including some contenders for the team of the tournament.

Funny how much easier it is to price up the game once the bookies have released their prices!

may I just point out that if Ireland had only scraped past Argentina by a point or so, my original claim that England would be 85% favourites would likely be spot on! I get a lot of stick on these forums from people who are hostile to statistics and probabilities but I don't mind because there's so much good opinions and information of this site about injuries etc that it really helps my rugby betting. Ireland haven't beaten England this World Cup it do you mean the 6N when you beat us by 6 points and we had a player sent off ? And we were winning 17-3 at half time .....

Yes. The sending off happened in the 73rd minute or thereabouts so it had less impact than a normal yellow card.

I'm not using that match to say Ireland are better. I was using that along with the wins over Wales, NZ and Argentina to show that Ireland might be a bit better than some people think.

Sorry if I came across the wrong way . I think this Ireland team is really good ! It's gonna be a really close game between us on Saturday . I'm really looking forward to it

Nominations announced for player of the tournament. Deegan, Mallinder, Bosch, Moeakiola, Stevenson.

Thats ok, I don't mind people having a different opinion. ;) I'll enjoy the game, win lose or draw. It probably hasn't been mentioned either but its good for the NH that its a NH final.
