[2016 Super Rugby] Waratahs vs. Highlanders (Round 4) 18/03/2016

Who are these guys and what have they done with the Tahs that played the first half?

We score here and we're a chance of winning the bloody thing.

Highlanders throwing away their BP Bulls style after dominating.

Might be more than just the BP if the Tahs can keep this up

HL might be alright if the Tahs keep kicking away the bloody ball

****ty cynical end to the game, but the Tahs needed to be smarter in the Hlanders 22 in that last 5.

'Tahs just needed better composure on the whole in the last 10 minutes or so.

Some (most) might call the new BP for tries scored a poor rule but I quite like it if only for the sake of teams can't take their foot off the pedal.

In a season this long and with this much travelling involved, you really think that's a good idea? Then we have the Internationals, it's a fast way to burn everyone out.

Pretty crazy game, couldn't believe my eyes, but like last week we lost another bonus point. I'm impressed with our scrum, Edmonds is excellent in particular. The Tahs have problems though and some deadwood, players like Palu probably need to be dropped and they miss Polota-Nau, their set pieces were absolute shambles. The referees seem to have vendetta against us this season, yet again terrible calls, in particular the blatant offside on the 3rd try and you could not see a grounding with the 4th.. really.

Being 30 up to win it by 4 is a worry, it's a sign our bench isn't as strong as last season with a few crucial injuries like Naholo and Bucky, the lower end ITM guys are getting abit too much exposure. I like Thompson at 12, but he doesn't have anywhere the same level of defense that Bucky has, Emery is an option to start and he has a good defensive record, only missing 1 tackle this season where as Thompson is at 80%. I'm pleased with Tongia and Faddes, they have both stepped up since Naholos injury and Osbornes. With Tongia's form Patty might find it hard breaking back into the team.

What's great for us is the speed of our loose forwards and depth. Dixon is as quick as most backs as well as Squire, it's a huge advantage having such tough fast loose forwards. Squire does have a tendency to miss some tackles though.

For the Tahs Beale had a good game and I think they will be a dangerous team once Foley returns, but they need a lot of work on their set pieces. Zac Guilford made a few nice breaks, but he still looks like he's lacking heart, the fact Dixon plucked one out of the air over him was pretty embarrassing and ultimately was the difference in the game.

The Tahs can reach the play-off. No doubts about it. Not just any side can score 4 tries in 25 minutes against the current champion. With Foley they will be more dangerous, don't forget that Beale missed 2 easy kicks in front of the posts in the 1st half.

Holloway is a future Wallaby, Palu is a former player. Fekitoa and Aaron Smith are top class players, yeah, everybody knows it.

Yes the Tahs will make the play-offs with the return of Foley and Beale can slot into the midfield and work off Foley, that's a very dangerous combination. Holloway can replace the expired Palu. Gibson has some work to do with the scrum and line out. I would be looking at dropping Skeleton as well, or asking him some serious questions, he is only getting worse and becoming invisible for such a large guy, he lacks any real aggression. He should be like Retallick given some of his skill sets and physical attributes, surely a disappointment for the Wallabys and Tahs.

2 tries should definitely not have been awarded. Also Faddes disallowed try looked fine, I saw no forward pass. The refereeing this season has been awful.
