5 points for the Sharks here puts that bit more pressure on both Stormers and Bulls in their fixture. I wouldn't have thought we'd be here 3 or 4 weeks ago but the Sharks have been winning games they shouldn't and the Bulls and Stormers have been doing our level best to give the opposition a fair go.

Wtf! Something with the sharks is not right at present. They just dont have a care in the world about their playing squad.
Willie le Roux moving to wasps. He signed in the off season surely they signed him on for longer than a year! Why would they just agree to let him out of his contract for free? atleast make wasps pay out the contract.
Jacques Potgieter one of the marquee off-season signings. Has a contract with sharks but is injured can play after the international break. Ok comes back for injury bulls announce he will play for them for the remainder of the season. Are you kidding me?
Renaldo Bothma good signing for us helps with the loosie depth but wait bulls announce that he will be playing for them this year. This guy was under contract for the sharks and suddenly they just let him (and the others) get out of their contract and go play for a rival team.
SP Marais great player. Had good performances for the sharks then went to kings and they screwed up so he was without a club. Nope sharks dont even think of signing him they rather just leave him as a free agent while we only have Joe Pietersen as fullback cover.

With the way these transfers are going im starting to suspect that sharks is contracting players month to month. Our goal is to become the best Super rugby team but how can we do it if we let everyone go? We need to hog as much talent as we can and if the player wants to leave and he is under contract then the other side simply has to pay a transfer fee. Atleast if we get a transfer fee we can invest the money in either youth structures or signing new players.
Im not sure John Smit and company has what it takes to run the Sharks ath present. We dont want a squad with a few good players and the rest just average players we need as much of the best as possible.

The trend in rugby has been for players to let their contracts run out and leaving on the free but now it seems they are leaving on the free with years on their contracts left! Is it time for us to introduce a proper transfer system where we can get compensation for players sold?

In fairness, you can't really blame the Sharks here for all of those transfers...

SP Marais, was a Kings player before he signed for the Bulls, and he left the Sharks because the Sharks bought Willie Le Roux and Joe Pietersen, and he knew he would be 3rd string player.

Jacques Potgieter has been out of action the whole season, and has been a liability for the Sharks as they kept on paying him while he was recovering, and his move is not only about him, but also about his fiancee (Angelique Gerber), who lives in Pretoria, so it's understandable that he'll move.

Willie Le Roux, it was inevitable that the NH teams would start knocking on his door, he has been a world class player now for a few seasons and his attacking power is what teams look for, if he does go, it would be because the Sharks couldn't match their fee.

Renaldo Bothma is the only one you could really have an issue with, but should you? The Sharks have a plethora of loose forwards in Jean Deysel, Keegan Daniel, the Du Preez Twins, Tera Mtembu, etc. With Bothma's injury, it wouldn't be like he can just waltz back into the team.

I don't think losing Potties will hurt the Sharks but I don't see that the structures are in place to replace Le Roux easily. Maybe look at getting Louis Ludik or Riaan Viljoen back? But their just as long in the tooth as Pietersen so while the Bulls have Gelant, Kriel and Marais as fullbacks (Kriel is seen as a versatile player but still), so maybe look to lure one over? I think Andries Coetzee of the Lions would fit the Sharks' game. You probably don't want Kolbe or Taute or anyone at the Cheetahs. Frans Steyn again? Its the sad reality that our rugby structures and politics and the economy in general means our unions can't even consider competing against the Euro, Pound and Yen.

The problem is we are trying to build a winning squad and we need to keep our players and get as many as possible to succeed.
If a players contract runs out fair enough he has free will and can choose where he wants to accept an offer from.
But if a players is under contract then they should respect that contract and if they really need to get out of it as soon as possible than that club should buy out his contract. Similar to football if Barcelona or Real Madrid wants to buy a player from another team and that player is under contract lets say at Chelsea then they would have to pay chelsea a transfer fee for that player. As a result chelsea can use that money to buy a replacement. Why arent we doing this in South Africa. Our clubs would have much more money then to keep our players that would ideally like to stay.

coming back to Willie le Roux, the guy is under contract we dont have to let him go but the Sharks lets him go on the free. That to me is bad management

But we don't know the full extent of this deal with Willie, I haven't seen many reports about him going to Wasps, and the ones that have surfaced, doesn't say much. Perhaps you could get Bevin Fortuin to make an appearance for the Sharkies :p
