I think this could be a highly entertaining match. The Jaguares will have to tidy up their game though. If there is a SA team to punish errors its the Lions ATM.They'll also keep hold of their posession and not give it to the Jaguares like the Stormers and Sharks have.

Lions by 14+ they are at great form lately. Jags plays with out 4/5 starters. I think it will be a close match till 50/55 min where lions will make the diff.

There's no way there is a 14 point difference between these teams, yet that's exactly what the winning margin could be! The Jags simply must step up to the plate in this game, there is no other option. By step up to the plate I do not mean to play scintillating rugby and still conspire to lose the game when it is in the balance. I mean to play in a way that will get the job done and if the game is close at the end, CLOSE IT OUT! Don't mentally implode!

On that basis, I have two predictions:

If the gameplan and mindset of the Jags is right - Jags by 9. I give this prediction a 5/1 chance.

If the gameplan and mindset of the Jags is the way it has been in all (yes ALL, even Chiefs etc.) 10 games thus far - Lions by 10+. I give this a 2/1 chance.

Essentially this is a bet on the Jags' mindset which acknowledges that their fate is in their own hands. I think I have probably been most vocal on this forum about how poor this team has been in this competition and I want to see them stand up and win a meaningful game. For me, a team's standard of play is not only determined by the good things they do in attack and defence, but also how they react to pressure situations and scenarios in which their character is tested. The Jags have no issue in the former department but are simply terrible in the latter. Playing at this supposedly higher level is not even a semi-credible excuse given that close to 100% of the team have operated at international level. It is time to stand up!

I think the Lions will repeat their performance against the Blues. They have a clean bill of health, they didn't have to travel, and their players are in form.

I'll be surprized if the Lions don't win by more than 15 points.

Jaguares starting XV:

1 Garcia Botta
2 Julian Montoya
3 Ramiro Herrera
4 Matias Alemanno
5 Tomas Lavanini
6 Pablo Matera
7 Tomas Lezana
8 Facundo Isa
9 Martin Landajo (c)
10 Nicolas Sanchez
11 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino
12 Juan Hernandez
13 Matias Orlando
14 Emiliano Bofelli
15 Joaquin Tuculet

Replacements:

16 Facundo Bosch
17 Facundo Gigena
18 Tetaz Chaparro
19 Guido Petti
20 Ortega Desio
21 Gonzalo Bertranou
22 Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias
23 Ramiro Moyano

Indeed a decent first XV, although we have 4/5 starters missing and we may suffer some lack of leadership.

IMHO the weak spots are:
11 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino
13 Matias Orlando
16 Facundo Bosch
17 Facundo Gigena
22 Santiago Gonzalez Iglesias

I predict a close contest up to minute 60, then the Lions by 15.

lions by 15+

going to punish the jags @ breakdown and open play...

mapoe for another hat trick :)

I just hope all these 15+ predictions isnt what's going on in the minds of the Lions players themselves. The Stormers probably went into the Sunwolves game thinking they already had teh win and we were lucky Koch managed to force his way over to get a draw at least against the 2nd team from the bottom.

i would go more, lions are on a massive high but the jags could spell a difference story as opposed to the blues...

make your tackles, kick your points when on offer, play as 15 and the win is in the bag...

The Lions at home do have it in them to inflate a scoreline like we saw against the Blues but my own feeling is this will be a much closer game both the contest and the margin.Don't get me wrong though, I am certainly not saying the Lions aren't favorites.

They are favourites though. The only way the Jags will win is if they build up an early lead. If the the Lions build an early lead, obviously it's game over. If the game is tight and comes down to the final minutes, mark my words: the Jags absolutely do not have the temperament to close it out. They'll almost certainly hand the game over when the pressure comes.

Pathetic defense from us in the first try

Pathetic defence for all three tries to be honest. Montoya was heavily involved in giving away two of those with a missed throw and bad pass. I've run out of words in terms of describing this team's performances. It's just not good enough and at this stage the Sunwolves actually look to be the best of the new sides with the Jags way off them. Having said that, I have predicted that the Jags won't win another game for the rest of the season so I shouldn't suggest that I'm surprised at half time. Different coach required.

21 tackles missed in 40 minutes. Let me say it again: twenty one tackles missed in 40 minutes...
