No disrespect to the Lions but I hope the Jaguares somehow pull off a win and open the door for a NZ team to take the number 1 seed. Jaguares have been trying really hard but getting hugely frustrated at their errors. At least they have just about kept a lid on their discipline the last couple of games. Their defence melts though when you get within ten yards of their line so a Lions victory seems highly likely.

Hope Johan Ackerman's not going to be sorry about this selection.....

Ackermann sending his B-team. But they are not a poor team by any means, and most of them have been in good form too for the Currie Cup team, last week they smashed the Valke so these guys are well-drilled.

Look it's a decent team but I can't help but feel Ackerman may have just thrown away a potential home final. Hard to imagine the Jags losing to a whats essentially a vodacom cup side.

It does not make sense. Yes they want to rest players for the finals but by potentially throwing away your home final is big. If they win this game then id say the lion should be favorites to win the comp. Home field advantage with a rested team.

Jaguares starting XV to face Lions:

15 Joaquín Tuculet
14 Santiago Cordero
13 Jerónimo de la Fuente
12 Juan Hernández
11 Manuel Montero
10 Nicolás Sánchez
9 Martín Landajo
8 Facundo Isa
7 Juan Leguizamón
6 Ortega Desio
5 Tomás Lavanini
4 Guido Petti
3 Ramiro Herrera
2 Julian Montoya
1 Tetaz Chaparro

Replacements:

16 Facundo Bosch, 17 Santiago García Botta, 18 Enrique Pieretto, 19 Matías Alemanno, 20 Marcos Kremer, 21 Gonzalo Bertranou, 22 Santiago González Iglesias, 23 Matías Orlando.

The Lions will still win their conference regardless of whether they win or lose and they will still have a guaranteed home QF (and if they win, a home SF)

Meanwhile, any of the four NZ teams in the post season can still win the NZ Conference, and if the Lions lose, that team will seed No. 1.

Should this happen, then IMO, Ackerman is banking on whichever NZ team that will be, being knocked over by another team (likely to be another NZ team) in the semi-finals and that would hand the Lions a home final.

Its either a stroke of genius, or arrogance, or stupidity. I can't decide which?

I think it's a unnecessarily risky move. He doesn't have to use his full team for 80 minutes to beat us.
A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

Pretty good first XV. My only concern is the absence of Crevy. Not because of Montoya, but some extra things that Crevy can bring to the field.
Also, the usual concerns about our replacements: very unexperienced first row and not proper alternatives for Sanchez-Hernandez.

However, I have good feelings about this match. Particularly with Lions not sending the best team.
Jaguares by 5.

Currently looking like a very shrewd move by the Lions coach. Extremely impressed by what I'm seeing from their second fifteen. The sort of result in progress that may make the Jaguares coach's position difficult to defend (when you also factor in the rest of their season).

How could the Jaguares not score a try there!? Scrum half has to do better even if pass is not perfect.

It may hurt national pride but I'd consider a proven SA or NZ coach for the Jaguars and have them mentor the next generation of Argentine coaches. If it's good enough for every 6 nation team except France to get a foreign coach then there is no shame for the only Argentine SR to do the same.

TMO has obviously been practising over the last week. He totally nailed saying "no try". Admittedly it was about fifteen seconds after the ref had made his decision, but still. Improvement on last week :)

Game on now though! If Sanchez had his kicking boots on they'd be 7 up just now.
