those are all separate, different things: - The Rugby World Cup has an absolute necessity (and calling) of including as many nations from all around the world as possible, at very least from each continent. If it were solely about competitiveness, it wouldn't be a RWC, we would basically only have the Top 15 best teams in the world. Of course, in the end it comes down to this anyways. In the 1/4F, you always have your France, England, NZ, SA, AUS...but it remains a world wide competition, for that's what it is by definition. - Argentina are historically too strong a Rugby nation to be discarded and pushed aside, and as they don't have pro clubs in a real league, and weren't part of a major Tier 1 tournament, it was only natural they'd participate in TRC, as they're SH (and since Europe refused their inclusion in the 6N anyway). The Pumas have managed a very good first campaign in 2012, and though they were in shambles the following year they still managed 2 or 3 close contests. So far, both instances are viable. But you compare those two instances to Argentina DESTROYING, ANNIHILATING, OBLITERATING other Latin American sides to pieces - every - single - time; and have been doing so for the past eternity. So there really isn't a point at all. The idea that teams progress is obsolete, look at the facts, they DON'T progress. They just don't. They need a lot more than just playing Argentina to progress, this is ridiculous. They've been taking 80-point poundings for God knows how long. It's just ridiculous, counter-productive, and an enormous, enormous and very narrow-minded shortcut than to think this benefits any side at all. There might be tiny advantages in the almost insignificant details, but in the bigger picture, this is absolutely ridiculous and everybody knows it really...just a matter of coming out and saying it. When you've been beating all sides in a tournament by an average margin of 60 points for the past 40 years and haven't lost A SINGLE GAME, there's kind of a problem. Well, there's "a problem" if you consider competitiveness, fairness, a good spectacle and generally a real spirit of team sports as important things...
