[2014 EOYT] Scotland vs Argentina

to me it look liked the jumper jumped and ended up landing on harley but got no idea if harley went into him though

Think I called it that Scotland would win and win well :D.

Well done lads!

Glasgow have beaten Treviso twice Connacht, Cardiff Blues, Dragons this season in the Pro12 only decent win is Leinster by two points which was a terrible Leinster performance.

Toby, either you're a deliberate troll or you haven't the first idea about rugby.

aye the pro 12 what about the european chanpionship ? does that not count were Glasgow beat a very good Bath team and Montpellier team and have you seen how well glasgow played this year ? no probably not

Scotland made a silly mistake in the last, but overall performance was not bad IMO. I think that Scotland can get into last 8 by beating USA, Japan, and Samoa.

I was pretty much sitting right here, I done my usual though and moved down to the empty seats at ground level

it was pretty much us making mistakes when Jim Hamilton came on then back off after being on for 3 minutes in the game, hopefully that is the last we see from him especially if we are going to but up a fight against the all blacks next week

Jim Hamilton already has 56 caps for Scotland. Who is your favourite for his position (hopefully from Glasgow Warriors, because a squad who has many players from the same club would be stronger!)?

Richie Gray and Jonny Gray, Grant Ghilcrist got injured so Hamilton got called in got no idea why i would have had All Kellock in there or even Fraser McKenzie

Al Kellock would have been my choice ahead of Hamilton. It's difficult as he hasn't been playing for Glasgow, but he showed whilst playing for the Barbarians that he's clearly fit to play, plus the fact he played so well in that game.

yeah but if he get captain of the barbarians then im sure he i capable of playing for scotland even with the lack off games

Yeah so it was a case of: Scotland was good, Argentina was bad.
Argentina, very disappointing. They looked like "hey we've got another game today ? eh..okay, let's play it". Clueless on defense, giving away soft tries, porous as hell, easiest clean breaks from the Scottish players (even forwards). Not the side that took it to the Boks twice in a row or won against Australia. Perhaps the fatigue, missing some important leaders like Lobbe and Creevy leaving the field early…
That yellow in the 1st half felt like an eternity for the Pumas and like they were 13 not 14.
A little better in the second half..

Credit to the Scotts who were on a positive dynamic the entire match. Credit for taking the chances and scoring, for showing such commitment and putting up such a big score. Brilliant tactical kicking from the new 10.

Slightly late to the party here but disappointed with that as I kind of consider Argentina my second side. Not really sure what happened, didn't seem to really turn up...defence was pretty shocking, and offered nothing in attack apart from a couple of Sanchez moments which came to nothing. Bosch in particular was AWFUL, looked completely lost every time he had the ball in his hands, like a nervous 17-year-old playing his first adult game. Scotland were fantastic though, not to take anything away from them. I was very impressed with Blair Cowan, as well as the obvious two Grays and a Laidlaw.

I'd like to hear from the Argentinians - what's with all the Landajo hate?! I agree he was rubbish today (he was totally at fault for Maitland's try, not the only time he was in totally the wrong place) but I saw it as an anomaly. Over the RC I've been really impressed with him, and I certainly don't think Cubelli added much today...I feel Landajo would have run that period of play on Scotland's line much faster, Cubelli looked lost and indecisive to me. Interested to hear your views?

Nobody else but me hates Landajo.

He makes silly decisions, and it kills me. A half-scrum should be smart before everything. Agustín Pichot style, dammit. His kick to the box is poor, he's a bad reciever when he has to cover the backfield, he runs like a duck (watch his running in that awesome try to new zealand in 2012), he often chooses the bad side of the attack...

I have to give him his quick pass, the fact that he's tenacious, audacious, everything he has achieved throughout his career is due to his effort, because he is less talente than other, he took nicolás vergallo out of the team, he worked his ass off from the pampas, he has has one of the most amazing physiques in international rugby for a number 9 (seriously athletic guy), he plays with his team (CASI) after getting hell of offers from Europe, and he has a huge heart and is EPIC as hell.

And I still hate him. He kicked the ball directly to the hands of Julian Savea in New Zealand. To me, that should be out of Pumas almost directlty.

I'm sure you see more of the Argentinian players than me, but I don't have that impression of him at all; not saying he's perfect, but I don't think he makes bad decisions often enough to mark him out from other international scrum-halves, and I think he has a lot going for him especially partnered with Sanchez. Who would you replace him with - Cubelli, or is there another Argentinian 9 I don't know about?

I also like the fact that every time the commentator says his name it sounds like 'pendejo', so I admit I'm a bit biased in his favour for that...

I think Cubelli, but also Javier Rojas is a man to watch. In fact, he's probably better than Cubelli.
