Bullshit signing. Should Munster develop a guy who has two S14 caps who can qualify for Ireland in 3 years or any IRISH tighthead in the country? We should never have been allowed sign him.

Hayes and Buckley will miss a large part of the next 2 seasons through international commitments. Stephen Archer isn't good enough to step up consistently. Borlase is a necessary signing although I know nothing about him. In Horan, Du Preez, Ryan, Hayes, Buckley and Borlase, Munster should have a decent rotation of props.

Agreed, very silly move and not at all progressive. We'll be lucky if there are 3 Irish props starting in the Heineken Cup next year.

I can see where you are coming from and I agree Munster should put more effort into developing young Irish props however Munster want players that can come and play straight away instead of having to wait for an irish prop to come up to scratch. I would like to see Buckley and du preez as are 1st choice props. I want Buckley to have as much game time as possible as thats what he needs. Hayes may just be used on occasions and Horan will have to really up his game. With Hayes,Buckley and maybe Horan on international call Ryan could well get some good game time.

Lads just to let ye know this signing is because Buckley, Horan and Hayes will be away with International camps and then take in there is fears Archer or Dave Ryan may leave but even if they don't the simple fact is we're short on props and well Borlase is needed. Also he is a handy prop who can play on both sides and well if we are realistic John Hayes is struggling and well I expect Buckley to be the Irish #3 while Hayes can't play that much rugby any more I feel.

Tim Ryan is a better player since he went to Toulon but I really don't think he'd have been value for money and although I agree he's Irish and it'd benefit Irish set-up with lack of props we have but it a business and well Tim Ryan wouldn't have been given IRFU contract so I don't know the financial side but I presume we took the cheapest value-for-money option

Didn't realise Munster had snagged Borlase.

Sneaky sneaky there Ireland. He would have been All Black standard in 3 or so years anyway judging by his ANZC form. The Crusaders have All Black props on the bench so Borlase has been working overtime with the Canterbury academy. From what i have seen of him and Irish props (Hayes) he is a pretty awesome signing. He may even have an Irish granny if youre lucky

I find it pretty hilarious that between Court, Borlase and Brett Wilkinson, in the near future Ireland could have no Irish props in their 22. It would be a SANZAR affair and i would lol.

I doubt Wilkinson has anywhere near the class of the other looseheads available to Ireland. He's a very average player who does a decent job for Connacht but no more than that. Borlase has only signed a two year deal with Munster; you must live in a country for 3 years to qualify to play for that country. Unless he has ancestral links to Ireland, I doubt he'll ever play for us either since I could see him returning home in a couple of years. Tom Court has an Irish grandparent and to be fair to him, seems to be here for the long haul. He's at Ulster 4 years now and has another couple of years left on his contract. He's hardly a mercenary in the same sense as, say, Riki Flutey.

Agree with Snoop that Wilkinson a handy player but no more.
As for Borlase I doubt he'll play for Ireland although I feel if his 2 year stint is good he could be here for a while yet.
But reality is Ireland have a serious shortage of decent props like we can say Munster have likes of Archer but most Archer will make is a decent ML player like.

Its still possible though..

I could see Borlase playing the rest of his rugby in Ireland if he enjoys his time at Munster, he is a very talented player but the competition for propping spots seems to be alot fiercer in NZ, also once players leave the NZ system they generally have a very hard time trying to slot back in again. In Ireland he would get paid alot more and he would have a better opportunity to play international footie. It just makes sense for him

That old rumour D'Arcy n seems like maybe there could be some truth but I wonder would that move effect his Irish chances like I know Tommy isn't effected but D'Arcy is under preessure at moment to hold spot

In all honesty D'Arcy's probably only been in the starting XV over the last few games because of Fitzgerald's injury. I don't really see the point in Ospreys buying him. He hasn't got many seasons left

Think Snoop is right and well I think Borlase will be here for maybe 4-5 years but don't think he'll wear Irish shirt.

As for D'Arcy, I agree Snoop that when Luke is back it'll be Luke on wing with BOD and Earls although I'd fancy Luke having a shot at 12.

Niether do I. I don't ant him to go, even if we are losing Parker, if we sign D'Arcy then when will Ashley Beck and Jon Spratt finally come through? Besides, Hook/Bishop is a good partnership, and chucking another very good player in like D'Arcy would ruin it, and take Gareth owen or Nikki Walker/Tom Prydie's bench spot.
