A Political Thread pt. 2

Following on from these two examples of the current government actually doing the right thing...
There's a 3rd right thing

According to AI...
In A Christmas Carol, Bob Cratchet - an underpaid, almost destitute Dickensian victim of capitalism - earns 15 shillings a week.
Which is about £32,000 p.a. adjusted for inflation.

UK average salary for a bookkeeper in 2025 is £26,848

I said after Brexit, I could see another major war in Europe coming and the years since have only made me feel like this is more probable and bigger than I previously thought.

The Red Roses’ World Cup success on home soil has led to the captain, Zoe Aldcroft, the vice-captain, Marlie Packer, and the head coach, John Mitchell, named OBEs, while Megan Jones, Sadia Kabeya and Ellie Kildunne become MBEs.

NB: 31 of the men's 2003 squad were honoured.
CBE for Johnson.
OBE for Wilkinson and Leonard.
MBE for every other player.

It's great at acknowledging some massive charity work people do. My wife's uncle got an MBE for working for the RNLI on lifeboats since about age 18 to 75.

On the other a friend of mine got a BEM for what I can essentially tell is "doing her job" but its one of those career paths in public service that will lead to a damehood.

Political appointees are the worse though.
