URC round 7 - 2025/26

Fun and competitive game between Scarlets and Cardiff, if dubiously-refereed at times.
Cardiff will rue not kicking the points from pens a few times. Took the quick tap or line out and got over the line but held up a number of times, didn’t convert in the red zone. I think they should be most disappointed with that. Scarlets were poor and got lucky with an GD classic try.

Also Cardiff were playing a team that feel they are playing for their very existence.

Do you think Scarlets were anything other than shite?

Those 3 big decisions in the first half from the ref, seemed to kill Cardiff off. At half time all the stats led to Scarlets falling off a cliff, i turned to my GF and said that being done dirty that hard from a ref is on par with making 40 extra tackles...

Mulder and Sheedy proved that 2nd half, between them 8 unforced 1st phase errors, and that desperate last second kick was a result of Cardiff not being given at least 2 penalty tries.

They were poor, bar their first try. Elias had a terrible game and his darts were dreadful.

Cardiff can only look at themselves. Lost composure after the decisions you mention, but also after not converting at key moments. Plenty of opportunities to keep the score board ticking but always going for the big play. Our game is a wide and fast one but you need good management too and it wasn’t there today.

Only good news is that scarlets bring lots of fans as most of them live in the diff so £££.

Also ive given Van Zyl credit up until now, but i honestly think we saw his weakness, chosing Grady on the wing, a massively limited Millard at 13, and leaving Bowen out to dry.

Quality.

It helps when theres a hard hitting 12 in the 10 channel already, so Williams and James can look outside instead of in.

Will he get that in a welsh shirt?

I still cant beleieve Bowen was overlooked, being the absolute shining star until today
Yeah, he’s played 13 last couple of games Personally, if I was peel, as well as Jonny Williams has done, I’d play James at 12 and Roberts/Page at 13.

Good to see him playing well on a consistent basis, though. Sign of class that, being out for the best part of a season and not taking long to hit a level. He’d be my first choice Welsh 12. I’m not giving up on Hawkins at 10 either (though I’m less optimistic on that given he’s a baby at 10)

That kiwi number 8 that Scarlets have just got looks decent too. Get him in as soon as his residency clears or does he have a Welsh grand parent or something?

Grady looked good I thought. Good to see him back as well. I can see what you mean by being a bit wasted out on the wing though, in this game at least.

Fletcher is a monsyer isnt he. I know Lawrence has monster stats this year, but i honestly think hes benefiting from a good attacking system and confidence, Fletcher is the real deal though. At one point i think Peel said he went about his business under the radar... did he ****. He was excellent in every aspect

The problem is is he too much like his brother, superb ball player but powderpuff when necesary. He cannot make a decision at 13, but isnt quick enough for wing, he will o ly ever do a job at club level.

I honestly thought he with Llewellyn inside him would be the futire of welsh rugby when they were together...
