PREM 25/26 - Round 5

Two points far more than I expected, so I'll take it

Luke James hat trick is ludicrous

Scrums continue to be a blight on the sport, knock-on happens at 77mins and no more rugby happens until the final whistle is blown, they really need to just have time off the whole scrum period
The whole last scrum was madness.

I'm of the opinion clock should only start when the scrum is completed and the ball at the back of the scrum.

Happy for Exeter fans that season has a bit of optimism even if you could say it's slightly false with two of those wins being Newcastle and Gloucester but Sale Saracens Leicester Bath are the next four "prove it" rounds. Even one win there keeps them in the playoff mix.

Gloucester, nowt more to be said. Just a victim of a league that is spending more than it generates.
Draw Vs weakened Saints, Lost to weak Bristol, and beat Newcastle. Solid win vs strong Quins team and beat a struggling Gloucester.

So not getting carried away, but this season we are scoring tries and also not conceding as many. We actually have some shape to our attack but far from the finished article.

I hope we can keep it up and put in some strong performances vs the top teams.

Yep next four are huge. Feels like they are definitely 3points gained Vs Saints though. Need to sneak a win from one next four and you have hope.

Seems a little OTT. The scrum itself is part of the game, after all.
I'd happily stop the clock when ref calls scrum, and restart it when they call "crouch".

Alternatively, now we've got used to the shot clock, put a scrum clock on it, scrum has to be ready to crouch within 30 seconds.

Nice way for a forgotten man to return!

If you told me after last season that by round 5 Chiefs would be in 3rd with the lowest points against, 2nd highest points difference.
Don't get me wrong the next 4 games are the 4 hardest games we will have this half of the season and we've beaten/drawn against the weakened or lower teams, but still last year we were struggling to even begin on par with the bottom of table teams.

Far from finished but what a start. I'd say on our squad/last season ect. I'd say we will be happier than Bath Fans(not that we are close on a team level as it stands)

You're probably right.
As a Bath fan - the season has gone slightly better than expected in terms of results, and we can see that there's at least 1 more gear yet to be found.
Of course, over on COML there are some nutters upset that we lost away to Leicester with a rotated squad, as they genuinely seem to believe that we were going to run through the whole season unbeaten.

Exeter on the other hand are way exceeding expectations. Yeah, there's some if.s and but.s, but whatever else, you're 1 win away from last season's total!

Didn't even realise that about points, that's Insane. After 5 games we've almost don't better than all last season... bet we are already ahead on PF for all of last season. And PA was way to high last season so being 2nd is insane for us

Is that just T14? Or what Canal+ pay for club rugby (T14, ProD2, and whatever the 3rd division is)

Basically though, it'll come down to co-operation and growing the game (and history) - do that and it becomes more popular, and worth more

Just T14. There's simple too few domestic rugby fans vs those who watch international.

20% UK sports fans follow the sport compared with 29% in France), the Top 14 is more popular with French rugby fans, 43% of whom follow the league, compared to just 27% of UK rugby fans who say they follow the PREM

Of course the UK is comprised of not just England, but it does create a bit of a mess in how to take advantage of that, say a British Isles league that would have a commanding position to benefit all nations. Yet that would bugger up European competitions, and I think pride would be a massive Road block.
