British and Irish Lions v Argentina

Credit to Argentina. Lions looked what they are a scratch team without much time together. They could have won that, think they tried a bit too much in general when they were getting plenty of change from going up the giyts playing more direct. Lot of unforced errors and wobbly lineout.

Well played Argentina, fully deserved win!

Any idea when you'll join the circus properly and host a tour?
It could be epic.
Canada, USA and an "Americas" combo team to get started, then Brasil, Chile and Uruguay for the midweek, and 3 Vs Argentina for the tests
Maybe USA could also put out an MLR team as well? The best of their non-Eagles players. If not, how good would a Dogos+Pampas team shorn of Pumas be? I assume not good enough, but it's just an assumption

This will certainly come in handy. I can now innocently ask every Irish, Welsh, Scot and English person i encounter: have you ever beaten the lions?

Jokes aside, we've beaten NZ, RSA, Aus and the lions in less than a year. Not too bad.
Expecting the next games against England too. I have my tickets to San Juan on July 12th.

After this game I feel the best 23 is currently
1. Genge, 2. LCD, 3. Stuart
4. Itoje, 5. Bern
6. Chessum, 7. JVDF, 8. Doris
9. JGP, 10. Russell
12. Aki, 13. Ringrose
11. Freeman, 14. Lowe, 15. Kinghorn

16. Kelleher, 17. Schoeman, 18. Bealham
19. Ryan, 20. Earl
21. Williams, 22. M.Smith, 23. Keenan
Shame Doris is injured for the next few months.

On reflection not that much for the Lions to be worried about. Argentina are the best team they'll face and they got pretty close with quite a few second string selections and no time together.

Lions win 2-1.

But lose to the Brumbies.

That game looked like a te trying to play like Bristol without the years together first. Looked good until they pushed to hard and dropped the ball. Looked clunky but they will get better and not a bad showing.

You also didn't pick Dan Sheehan which I feel, unlike Porter, isn't just bad judgement on your part.

Edit: sorry for the spamming. I will stop now, might even watch on repeat.

Porter and Shoeman shouldn't be ahead of Nicky Smith in the first place!

Honestly I did forget Sheehan there's too many Irish players it's hard to keep track

Also Genge’s smell has prob made Dublin a bit more liveable the last few days

The heat emanating off him has provided the hottest day we've had in three years but hard to say it's worth it.

All in I don’t think the lions should be too concerned, within 4 points of a highly ranked and longer established team setup is not a bad thing. It also removes any risk of glossing a stuttering performance.

This was the chance to see a split of the test likelys mixed with the more unknowns/chance to show what they could do.

It’s easier for me to look at the backs, fin smith was under a bit of pressure and he maybe rushed a little. Williams was a big improvement from Mitchell (who I didn’t really rate) and could challenge JGP if he keeps going.

The centres weren’t very balanced, I like Siones skillset he’s just a great guy to watch move the ball. I think bundee and sione are toss of a coin for 12 then match them with their international pairing at 13.

VDM looked keen to start but the lack of clear organisation didn’t suit him at all. His danger comes once running with pace and it wasn’t to be today. Hansen and freeman were ok overall, the shape of the attack wasn’t very well toned so no one got to shine. Daly looked good when he came on, good pace too.

Marcus is not the 15 we need, positioning and pace were not correct he’s better suited at 10 on some of the midweeks maybe.

Genge was great, Schoeman was handy too. The line out was not good Kelleher threw it and no one was looking!

This will have brought them all down to earth and focused the minds. The job has started now and there are work ons from this game.

Reassuring to see Finn and Jamison having a good chat in the stand
