Apparently Wales are going to Switzerland and Qatar, England are going to the Rockys, Ireland going to Galway and Cork...

Any reason why Ireland aren't going abroad?

Also when are the camps?

Ireland had a meeting and it was (rightly) decided. Why should Ireland go abroad. We have loads of facilities more than capable, we are in the conditions the World Cup will be played in, we will allow lads stay close to family and we can have everything we need transported easy.

Better question is why anyone would voluntarily go to Qatar unless there's bribery involved

Ireland won't be prepared for 40 degree heat and sub zero temperatures like the English and Welsh???? Fuuuuck

Implying that we're not shipping in snow machines and de-oxygenators for the tournament.

They should just play that video before every game in the dressing room, there's no way we could lose

You do, it's just cancelled out by other teams watching it too. The All Blacks are only better because they also watch the Top Gun Volleyball scene before games.

Was just curious but I do agree that it's mad that Wales are going to Qatar. Apparently Gats has said players should dread training too.

Perhaps because they're going to be focusing on rugby related skills and strucuture?

Whilst England and Wales will be focusing on fitness...

Just curious to see what people think is better to do: work on fitness or work on actual rugby?

Scotland seem to be also training in a different country. I think it's definitely important to work on fitness, but are these trainign regimes too much? Especially Wales? They've got enough injuries as it is.
At the same time, concentrating on actual rugby is going to be important, too. Just curious to see what people think?

I think at an early stage it's mostly fitness with classroom studying of tactics.

Although that's just from what I gathered on an old O2 inside line episode for England. Not sure about others.

This gives the chance for players to evolve from seeing the vision of the coach while getting fit to slowly implement it. The forwards need a much longer period of time to do this, due to the repeated beatings they receive for fun.

They have so much time together both will be getting a lot of attention. It's essentially a pre-season as an international squad so soon enough we'll start hearing the stories about guys lifting more than they ever have etc but they'll also be spending a lot of time on the pitch refining their gameplans and skills. Certainly with Ireland there's no way Schmidt won't take advantage of a club like situation that he hasn't had with Ireland yet.

Do you guys think teams who are doing high altitude training etc will be at an advantage or disadvantage?

I think it depends strongly on how you intend to play. If you are trying to play a kick chase, defensive game then a lot has to go on fitness as you don't have the ball a lot. Ireland I'm guessing are moving into a more intricate attacking game like when they played Scotland so what to work on their core fundamentals.

I can't see it would be a disadvantage to do high altitude training . Any training that is harder than the match conditions you will face can only be good in my eyes . Also worked wonders for Wales on various occasions
