Worcester survived a major scare to book their place in the Championship final, beating Bedford 23-22 at Sixways on Sunday to keep alive their hopes of promotion to the Aviva Premiership.

Worcester will now face Cornish Pirates in the two-legged final after the southerners saw off London Welsh 18-10 at the Mennaye on Sunday.

This result is probably what they need to stop them being too arrogant in the final against the Cornish Pirates

Gavin Cattle was average when he got given a chance for the Scarlets some years ago.

But was good for the Pirates yesterday. Gutted for the Welsh, gave the Pirates a good game and were good all season.

Best two teams have made the final mind, should be a good game of rugby.

7000 seats in temporary stands is a fair few!

However, would be great to see them in the prem - don't like the idea of promotion/relegation taking a hike because of there not being enough seats

Only Worcester can be promoted none of the other 3 teams in the final four applied for the promotion audit (as they would fail) so cannot be promoted. This does not necessarily mean Leeds stay up, it is then down to the RFU to decide (but in all probability Leeds would stay up if Worcester lost to Pirates)

Pirates have already said they won't be going up if they won the playoff because their ground isn't up to scratch and there's nothing good enough nearby.

When you consider that technically the Rec wouldn't pass the regs to gain qualification (ignoring that the masons would get involved), Pirates' playing field on the back of a housing estate has no chance. Not enough facilities, car parking, health and safety etc to even remotely look like Premiership rugby would ever be played there.

Even better still. Have a league and whoever finishes top of the league is crowned champions/promoted etc.

Yes, I think that should happen too, like in France far more teams have been exposed to Top 14 rugby at some point, that their Pro D2 is much stronger

but you'd have to get around the RFU's ground standard policy first however

14 teams, 2 up - 2 down, scrap the salary cap, re-jig the season so club games don't clash with test rugby, stop being anal about sharing stadia with soccer/league/other sports. All should help.
